I don't think the fact that she's done a nude scene is relevant; nobody would put that in for Walter Cronkite, why should we put it in for her? --Robojames 13:47, 6 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Because it's interesting that some actresses do nude scenes and others do not... have you ever heard of The Bare Facts Movie Guide? Richard Roeper included a list of actresses who've never done nude scenes in one of his books, so it is worthwhile trivia. As for Walter Cronkite, he was a newscaster, so the analogy is not revelant. -- Cryptico 5 July 2005
IMO, it's only worth mentioning if she's made a moral point of refusing to do nude scenes. RMoloney 6 July 2005 19:39 (UTC)

SNL Firsts?

I noticed that this page has a number of really minor records that I don't think are really necessary. A few of those I think are interesting enough to keep such as the fact that she's the fifth returning host overall or the only former female cast member to host SNL more than once but I don't really care about the rest and I'd like everyone else's input.

"Louis-Dreyfus made SNL history again when she became the first (and so far only) former female castmember to host SNL a second time on March 17, 2007, as well as the third host from season 31 to come back and host, the fifth returning host overall, the quickest returning host in the 2000s (surpassed only by Ben Affleck, who hosted season 29 and season 30, and Dane Cook who hosted seasons 31 and 32), and the only season 32 host so far to have been a former castmember of SNL." —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 152.30.221.68 (talk) 22:48, 19 March 2007 (UTC).

I totally agree with you. Let's not muck up Julia's page with Ben and Dane. :-) InkQuill 23:24, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
I concur as well. I think there could be some reduction done! Maybe I will get around to trying to do some of it, sometime :)-- Whereizben - Chat with me - My Contributions 13:02, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

Refutation of Relationship to Alfred Dreyfus

According to an interview with Julia Louis-Dreyfus in Arrive Magazine, the Amtrak travel magazine for their Northeast corridors January/February issue, Julia Louis-Dreyfus said, "No, I don't believe that we're [she and Alfred Dreyfus] related but this comes up all the time. I don't mind. It's a significant part of history and people are interested in it. There could be some very remote lineage, but I'm not aware of it. Dreyfus is a very common name in France. It's like Smith or Jones over here." --Pndfam05 (talk) 00:42, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

Grandfather death?..

Didn't her grandfather just die a few days back? I was reading in the newspaper the founder of Dreyfus Funds died and he was like 92 or something, and a billionaire. This would be relevant to the article. --24.21.148.212 (talk) 08:42, 7 April 2009 (UTC)

Julia's Father

Everything I've read says Julia Louis-Dreyfus' father is William Louis-Dreyfus, not Gerard. He may be from the same overall family (not sure), but it isn't Gerard. Whomever created/manages this page please confirm & correct the parentage statement. Thanks. Posthocergopropterhoc 6 July 2005 17:37 (UTC)

I found this, at [1] taken from July 15 1996 edition of Forbes magazine
OF THE FOURTH generation of Louis-Dreyfuses to run the family firm, William is as American as he is French. Or maybe we should say he is as French as he is American. He was a child in 1940 when his American mother returned home after she divorced Pierre Louis-Dreyfus. By the time WWII ended, Gerard Louis-Dreyfus was an all-American boy who called himself William and turned his back on all things French. He graduated from Duke University and its law school and went to work in 1959 at New York's Dewey, Ballantine firm.
In 1965 Pierre Louis-Dreyfus appealed to his son to save the family firm. Family ties prevailed. He was in the top spot in 1969 when he was 37. In France he called himself Gerard. In the U.S. he was still William.
Interesting stuff. Several edits now need to be made to incorporate this info. RMoloney 6 July 2005 19:31 (UTC)
Hmmmn. Interesting, thanks for clearing up the confusion.Posthocergopropterhoc 04:52, 25 July 2005 (UTC)
Didn't her father or grandfather just die within the last few days? They were the founder of Dreyfus Funds, apparently. --24.21.148.212 (talk) 08:48, 7 April 2009 (UTC)

Montreal born actor Richard Dreyfus??

Who is this? Richard Dreyfuss was born in New York and spells his name differently. I can't find any evidence that the two are related. Feets 03:00, 9 September 2006 (UTC)

Richard and Julia are almost certainly not related. The only connection is that both believe themselves to be related to Alfred Dreyfus. This is at least plausible for Julia, since both Alfred Dreyfus and the Louis-Dreyfus family come from Alsace. There is no reason to belive that Richard is related to either. The relationship with Richard should come out. Captain Video 12:37, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
Richard and Julia aren't related. Just because they have similar-sounding names doesn't mean they're related. They're not related. Ticket closed. --24.21.148.212 (talk) 08:45, 7 April 2009 (UTC)

Is she related to Anouk Aimee though? She knocked the Dreyfus off her name. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.113.42.118 (talk) 01:28, 29 May 2009 (UTC)

Jewish?

Are there actually any sources to indicate this or is it assumed from a distanct connection to Alfred Dreyfus? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.144.92.109 (talk) 03:11, 7 June 2009 (UTC)

How she met Larry David

It says on the wiki that she met Larry David on SNL. They knew each other before snl as a comedy Troupe along with Gary Kroeger at Northwestern —Preceding unsigned comment added by 150.148.0.65 (talk) 14:59, 21 March 2011 (UTC)

Faux 'fussin

What one will want to know is if there a connection to The Dreyfus. It appears that there is (i.e. that Alfred was the father of Pierre), so why can't it (or the disconfirmation) make it here? 72.228.177.92 (talk) 14:40, 13 March 2012 (UTC)

I would add that Dreyfus was her great great paternal grandfather as the Dreyfus article says that she's "a distant relative" but not doing so as it's possibly a different Pierre, the other article doesn't give his birth date. 72.228.177.92 (talk) 10:50, 14 March 2012 (UTC)

Seinfeld-like curse

"In 2001 she made several special guest appearances on Seinfeld co-creator Larry David's show Curb Your Enthusiasm, playing herself fictionally trying to break the "curse" by planning to star in a show in which she would play an actress affected by a Seinfeld-like curse."

What's a Seinfeld-like curse? This doesn't make sense without an explanation. I'd fix it myself if I knew what it meant. Omc (talk) 08:31, 29 April 2012 (UTC)

Problem with Emmy Awards claim.

There is an issue regarding the claim that Louis-Dreyfus has won the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series Award for three different roles; she has not. Her Emmy win for portraying Elaine Benes on Seinfeld was in the category of supporting actress, as were all of her nominations. However the People magazine article used as the source and the line "Following on from her Emmy wins for Seinfeld and Old Christine, she became the only woman to win the award for three separate comedy series" imply otherwise. Her Emmy win breakdown is: two leads for Veep, one lead for New Adventures, and one supporting for Seinfeld. 67.181.76.194 (talk) 00:05, 24 November 2013 (UTC)

Related to Alfred Dreyfus?

I just saw her in a film for the first time and when seeing her surname I naturally thought is she related to the most famous Dreyfus of them all, the one we in Europe all learn about,Alfred Dreyfus? 79.97.64.240 (talk) 19:00, 3 November 2013 (UTC)

Alfred Dreyfus was the son of Raphaël Dreyfus, who was the son of Jacques Dreyfus, who was the son of Israel Dreyfus (see genealogy here). Julia's father, William Louis-Dreyfus, was the son of Pierre Louis-Dreyfus, who was the son of Charles Louis-Dreyfus, who was the son of Leopold Louis-Dreyfus, who was the son of Louis Dreyfus (see genealogy here). So, Alfred and Julia are not very closely related, but since both of their "Dreyfus" lines lead back to Alsace-Lorraine, they could share a common ancestor farther back. Julia's son

Is Charlie Hall one of the people in the photo on the left at Talk:2017–18_Northwestern_Wildcats_men's_basketball_team#Possible_Charlie_Hall_pictures.-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 12:23, 22 March 2018 (UTC)

Given that now 4 years later her son has been a regular in 5 tv series, he probably should be mentioned explicitly by name in the article and probably get his own Wikipedia entry as well.--Kmhkmh (talk) 06:09, 26 January 2023 (UTC)
