Wealth

I would question the wealth and salary figures. If she earns $45 million a year why is she only worth $110m? On that income she should be saving at least $40m a year. Either the salary estimate is too high, or her net wealth is greater than estimated.203.184.41.226 (talk) 09:50, 18 June 2013 (UTC)

Well she owns five multi-million dollar homes. She also has said on her show that she "supports" her entire family (interesting in view of her belief in personal responsibility and hard work). She and husband Jerry have five children and numerous grandchildren. It's possible she's supporting their lifestyles as well as her own. The "highest paid" claim in the article is just plain wrong. The dubious mathematics in the article misquoted one source (now a dead link), misunderstood a deliberately misleading website, and then cited a second dead link. Similar errors were made in the Judge Judy article's attempt to count the episodes.

Let's momentarily assume that the URL text of the first dead-link source is correct. The URL's text states that Sheindlin earns $123,000 per DAY (not $123,000 per EPISODE, as this article would have us believe). If we further assume that she works on 52 days of the year, as was claimed. Then she would earn $6,396,000 annually. This is close to the annual $6.46 million claimed by the first dead-link source. If she instead worked every single day of the year without any weekend or vacation breaks, this would come to very nearly $45 million annually. Since she does NOT work 365.25 days per year, she does NOT earn that amount. She earns $6.4m annually, according to the two assumptions above, which are likely to be reasonably accurate.

The only cited reference that still exists is full of examples of "television personalities" that earn considerably more money than Judith Scheindlin. The examples include Simon Cowell, David Letterman, Ashton Kutcher and Charlie Sheen's television work. The reference is over two years old and at least the last example is no longer true, but there are new TV stars to consider instead.

The Judge Judy article counts the number of episodes using the TV Guide's count of broadcasts. That amounts to more than 240 episodes per year, but those include repeats and other re-broadcasts. In the calendar year of 2013, there were 180 distinct episodes according to IMDb, but even that is hard to validate as they are nearly all called "Unnamed Episode".

It took me all of five minutes to undermine the article's "facts" above. I believe that the article's salary claims are grossly inaccurate; but you can "be the judge".

Criticism

I see from reading the talk archives that people have been scrubbing this article of anything critical of Schendlin, including a description of the balanced Los Angeles Times profile which amounts to selective distortion.

This of course violates WP:NPOV and WP:CENSOR.

I came here to find out more about her claims that people with lupus were malingerers similar to drug addicts and alcoholics, which got extensive coverage in many WP:RS.

While reviewing the Talk Archives, I see that someone had deleted Scheindlin's quote, “Give ’em all dirty needles and let ’em die”, supposedly because he couldn't find a WP:RS. That quote has been published in dozens, maybe hundreds, of WP:RS.

I noticed this as well. There's also no mention that I could find of other television judge's opinion of her style. Joseph Wapner (probably the best-known TV judge in history) has been very critical of her approach and that this isn't mentioned is strange to say the least. The section https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Judith_Sheindlin#TV_court_show:_Judge_Judy has no criticism at all, and no hint that the Judge Judy article has criticism. That would seem to violate the guideline WP:CONTENTFORK. The criticism should be summarized in this article and this section too.
