1946 quotation edit

The article as it now is has the following text: On this approach, Quastel later wrote (1946) that "soil as a whole can be considered an organ comparable in some respects to a liver or a gland to which may be added various nutrients, pure or complex degraded plant materials, rain, air, and in which enzymatic reactions can occur."[citation needed]

Whoever added [citation needed] is perfectly correct, and I've been trying to find the original source, without success. My guess is that it is in THE METABOLISM OF NITROGEN IN SOIL, QUASTEL, JH, Endeavour 6(23), pp. 129–134 (1947), but I can't add a reference just on the basis of a guess, and I haven't been able to get access to the article in Endeavour. Does anyone know definitely what the source is? Athel cb (talk) 14:18, 10 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
