This has been waiting for some time now, so I'll take it up. Will post review tomorrow hopefully. Kosack (talk) 19:09, 2 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Lede edit

• The text uses dmy date format, but the infobox uses mdy. Date formats should remain consistent, as Mella is Spanish, I think dmy is the preferred.

  • Fixed.

• As per MOS:BIRTHPLACE, places of birth and death should not be included in the opening brackets.

  • Removed.

• Unlink Spanish, nationalities should generally not be linked per WP:OVERLINK.

  • Removed.

• If removing his place of birth from the brackets, then worth mentioning what his hometown was on the last sentence which references it.

Motorcycling career edit

• "the age of eighteen", numbers higher than ten should generally be written using digits, per WP:NUMERAL.

Fixed

• Worth linking Yamaha and Honda here?

Linked.

• "coming fortieth", numeral as above.

Amended.

• "thirty three starts and ninety nine points", numerals again, along with two uses of thirteenth and one of twelfth.

Amended.

• "500 cc", there is a space used here but not earlier for 250cc.

Removed.

Death and legacy edit

• "with Cristina Blanco Trinidad", worth noting who this was (e.g. another racer, partner) otherwise the name probably isn't worth mentioning.

Clarified with source.

References edit

• Reference titles should avoid shouting, as per WP:ALLCAPS. So ref 1 should avoid all caps on his name.

Removed.

• Is ref 1 a reliable source?

It may not be, so I have removed it.

Additional info edit

Given the relatively short nature of the article, I think it's important to ensure we include as much relevant information as possible. There are larger versions of the article on foreign language wikis which contain some useful info. Such as

• There is also a museum setup in his hometown, displaying memorabilia from his career. (Ref 1 supports this)

As this is not a reliable source, I feel I cannot include this. Certainly, a museum is not mentioned in the reports about the

• First Spanish rider to achieve a Superbike podium finish (Ref 1 again)

• Both the Italian and Galician wikis attribute his death to aquaplaning but I'm having trouble loading the ref on mobile to verify.

  • Added with reference.

• He was runner-up in the Spanish junior 250cc class in 1985 [1]

  • Added.

• In 1993, he was part-sponsored by donations from his fans. (Same ref as above)

  • Added with reference.

• There's an article Here that appears to cover his funeral. Might be worth putting through a translator.

  • This is excellent. I have added it too.

That's all I have for now, placing on hold for the time being. Kosack (talk) 04:36, 3 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Kosack: Thank you for your excellent review and pointers to other sources. This has led me to some very interesting places. I have expanded the article and, hopefully, responded to all your concerns. Please tell me if there is anything else. simongraham (talk) 01:31, 4 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
Nice work. I've fixed a couple of minor typos, feel free to change if you don't agree, but nothing worth holding this up for. I'm happy that this meets the GA criteria and will promote. Kosack (talk) 09:52, 4 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
