Joseph W. McCarthy is the most prolific designer of buildings for the Roman Catholic Church in the early twentieth century. I may not know much else about him, but that makes he worth mentioning. He's the architect listed for the majority of buildings constructed by the Roman Catholic Church during a period of vast construction for the Church.

When you say "the majority of buildings constructed by the Roman Catholic Church" do you really mean that, or do you mean "the majority of buildings constructed by the Roman Catholic Church in the United States"? I wouldn't have thought so. JJ was active in the nineteenth century in Ireland. Possibly father and son? Phil Bridger (talk) 19:02, 3 March 2009 (UTC)

I did mean in the United States and definitely not J.J. McCarthy. And I perhaps should specify that information is not from my own research on the architect, but rather from research done when the building was nominated as a Chicago Landmark. WomenLeadershipArchives (talk) 23:54, 3 March 2009 (UTC)
