Cannon experiment?

edit

In some places (websites, books) there is an unsourced statement that "Joseph Furtenbach of Ulm" performed an experiment in 1627, firing a cannon vertically to determine where the shot landed, thus shedding light on Earth's rotation. See for example:

I can't determine if this is the same person, but if it is then the fact should be included in the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Yokopoet (talkcontribs) 10:26, 31 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Date of birth

edit

There is, at present, an obvious and serious error at the very front of the article about Furttenbach's date of birth.

The text, at present, reads: "Joseph Furttenbach was born in Leutkirch, Germany on December 30, 1400. From 1607/08 to 1620 he stayed in Italy (especially in Milan, Genoa and Florence)." At that rate he moved to Italy at the age of 207 years. That's impossible.

I'm therefore removing "on December 30, 1400." I have no idea whether the Leutkirch place-of-birth is correct.
