The article does state the importance of the subject. He is a first-class cricketer. The notability guidelines for athletes state that anyone who has played in a fully professional league or equivalent is notable. The top professional leagues for cricket have first-class status, and this person has played one such game. Not only that, but it was when representing his country in a major international sport. I have also provided two independent references indicating this, and can provide a third if required. I appreciate that there are few concrete details available, but I still feel he is notable enough to warrant an article. Andrew nixon 15:26, 3 April 2007 (UTC) I totally understand what you are saying and that all cricket players that have played First class crciket deserve their own article and have highlighted this in the Wikipedia talk wikicricket page for people to discuss. This is where you first highlighted about the situation with Joseph Donnelly for example.02blythed 00:44, 4 April 2007 (UTC) I'm glad to see that this page is no longer flagged for deletion. Do we have to establish that first class cricketers are notable people every time we write a new article? Isn't there an obligation on over zealous editors to check on notability before flagging perfectly valid pieces like this one? It wastes everyone's time having to prove, for the hundredth time, that first class players are notable people, regardless of the number of games they played or the amount of biographical detail available on them. Well done Andrew for writing this piece. Nick mallory 04:40, 4 April 2007 (UTC) Nick MalloryReply

The basic test test of notability is substantial coverage in reliable sources independent of the subject: see WP:N.
However, this man appears to have only listings. Instead of complaining that he was flagged for deletion, why not find that substantial coverage in reliable sources? --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 02:45, 23 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
