José Garza has now been featured in the Nation and Jacobin. This should be sufficient for notability. A new page was created and the redirect was removed.

Notability

Currently, when taking into account WP:NPOL, the only solid secondary source with significant coverage is the piece in Nation. This is a good start, and Garza is likely to have a clear cut case for notability if he wins the actual election, but he falls a bit short of WP:GNG at the moment. _signed, Rosguill ^talk 23:12, 13 August 2020 (UTC)

Suspicious edit activity

Recent edits seem to be trying to build a borderline libelous narrative of Garza being either incompetent or in favor of violent crime. Can a more experienced editor look into this? Largely Legible Layman (talk) 03:26, 24 November 2023 (UTC)

Please explain how this is not a reliable source:

In October 2022, Garza made a plea deal that gave zero time in jail to a man who had beaten his pregnant girlfriend so severely that her fetus died.

As I said in my summary when I removed this material "sources don't mention Garza, and even if they did there does not seem to be any useful point in mentioning these minor cases" The sources don't mention Garza and thus are not reliable sources to claim that he made these rulings. Even if they did mention Garza, I agree completely with user:Largely Legible Layman. These minor cases simply do not belong in this article. Meters (talk) 20:00, 24 November 2023 (UTC)

These are not "minor" cases.

A district attorney has one job.

The district attorney failed to do that one job.

The fact that his name is not mentioned is irrelevant. He is the district attorney. It was his department that is responsible for these decisions.

A libel case is automatically dismissed if the statement is true.

Yes, it is completely relevant that the source does not mention Garza. You used the source to support the claim that Garza made the plea deal, but it does not name Garza. And these are indeed minor cases that do not warrant mention in his article. Your comments here and elsewhere make your POV obvious. Meters (talk) 20:14, 24 November 2023 (UTC)

In December 2023, the Travis County District Attorney's Office was criticized for giving only a 12 year sentence, with a possibility of parole after 6 years, to a man named Devon Loper for shooting a woman and her two daughters as they sat in their car.
