Notability
editVery likely this person is not notable enough for a wikipedia article. --Rocksanddirt (talk) 21:20, 22 May 2013 (UTC)
- If rappers like Don Cisco, deserve a wikpedia page, Jonny Z deserves a dozen!— Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.6.226.217 (talk • contribs) 14:55, May 26, 2013
- Wikipedia does not decide whether or not any topic "deserves" an article. The question is whether or not the subject is notable. Typically, this hinges on significant coverage in independent reliable sources.
- At the moment, the article cites allmusic twice and digitaldreamdoor.com. Allmusic does nothing to establish notability as it basically tries to cover every recorded artist.
- As for digitaldreamdoor.com, is (according to the site itself) user created. That "Jeff B." thinks one of the guy's songs is one of the "100 Greatest Miami Bass Songs" is not one of our criteria.
- I'll give it a few more days, but unless the article manages to find reliable sources or otherwise meet the criteria outlined at WP:MUSIC, I see a deletion proposal in this article's future. - SummerPhD (talk) 20:25, 26 May 2013 (UTC)
/* Notability */ The Oxford encyclopedia of Latinos and Latinas in the United States - Volume 2 - Page 301 states: "A new style of Latina and Latino hip-hop was created in Miami and Texas by the bass rappers DJ Laz and Jonny Z, who mixed Latin styles with bass music".... For you to say Jonny Z is not a pertinent Chicano rapper is incorrect. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.6.226.217 (talk) 00:51, 28 May 2013 (UTC) .
- I did not say he does not "deserve" an article. I did not say he is not "pertinent". I am saying that none of that matters. To have an article on Wikipedia, a subject must be WP:NOTABLE: the subject of substantial coverage in independent reliable sources. I've begun to clear out the POV and unsourced material. We'll see where it goes. - SummerPhD (talk) 03:11, 28 May 2013 (UTC)
Thank you. what do you feel was unsourced so I can try and source it. Also how do you add a photo?— Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.6.226.217 (talk • contribs) 6:58, May 28, 2013
- Go to the article and click the "History" link at the top of the page. This will bring up a list of edits that have been made to the page. Next to each edit, you'll see a link labeled "dif". Clicking this will show what was changed (and the edit summary should explain why). (As I said, I've already started removing a good bit of the unsourced info and peacockery.) - SummerPhD (talk) 03:24, 29 May 2013 (UTC)
