Jonathan Dimbleby's edit to this article edit

The subject has indicated he is responsible for this edit. That edit substantially alters the text without altering the sources that back it, so that his claims about himself are inconsistent with the sourcing about his actual historical claims. This is particularly significant, because Kapuscinski (via Eldrige) is describing Dimbleby as an "unprincipled calumnator" whose "demagogic trick" contributed to the fall of the government, its moving to the Soviet sphere of ideological influence, and, by implication, the massive famine which killed hundreds of thousands upon hundreds of thousands of Ethiopians.

It's a testy political point which requires careful wording and citation. Surely Jonathan Dimbleby has proven himself at the very least not to be "unprincipled", as he is honestly representing himself here on Wikipedia. Still, his edits inadvertently misrepresent the citations, which state that he presented inflated claims of the dead, claims which were disastrous for the government and ultimately the people of Ethiopia. Hope someone can address this, I will try to find the time, cheers, DBaba (talk) 01:27, 8 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Other work: Jeffrey Epstein's contacts book edit

Is the "revelation" that Jonathan Dimbleby appears in Jeffrey Epstein's contacts book really worthy of inclusion in this article? Presumably it isn't false, but it does seem unfairly and pruriently calculated to compromise Dimbleby's reputation. I suggest it be removed. Ralph Fiennes, Chelsea Clinton, Tony Blair, User talk:77.98.206.79, and perhaps an army of restaurateurs and businesspeople: do all their articles need a line or two about Jeffrey Epstein's address book too? --Frans Fowler (talk) 19:52, 15 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Removing the sentence now. --Frans Fowler (talk) 12:42, 7 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
