There’s little doubt that Jon Fisher, the entrepreneur turned business professor, has made some good calls. In May 2008, with unemployment at 5.4 percent, Fisher predicted that the U.S. unemployment rate would soar to 9 percent within 12 months. In April 2009, the U.S. unemployment rate hit 8.9 percent. Last August, one month after Warren Buffett said that national unemployment could rise to 11 percent, Jon Fisher said no way -- the figure would peak at 10.4 percent and drop sharply thereafter, if it even got that high. I don't see these edits as vandalism. It would have been better if there had been some discussion on why the tags where added though. The references do need citation info, which could justify the wikify tag, though isn't there a more exact tag for such problems?

The other problems are hard to assess with the references in their current, poor state.

Overly-promotional, poorly sourced information is regularly added to the article, so the NPOV tag might be justified if someone would point out specific concerns with the current version. --Ronz (talk) 19:17, 22 October 2010 (UTC)

Cleanup

I took a closer look and restored the advert tag as well. It was removed with only minor changes to the article.

I think we have enough to show he's notable per WP:BIO. Full citation information will help immensely making this clear, and in getting this article cleaned up.

The guy seems notable; he has written a book and is an adjunct professor who is quoted in the Wall Street Journal. The first cite I tagged as failed verification confirms that AutoReach was bought out by AutoNation, but it does not mention Fisher and his relationship with the firm. Do you think the article needs any maintenance tags at this point? I would not mind seeing some sources to replace the ones that didn't pan out.

I am wondering whether or not the material in this cite http://www.marinij.com/business/ci_13016645 should somehow be incorporated? Partway down there is a fellow named Nickelsburg who disagrees with Fisher's analysis. I'm not questioning if he's notable, just hoping that others will think we have the notable aspects of his life presented properly.

It can be problematic to be notable for forecasting: correct forecasting is highly newsworthy, incorrect forecasting tends to be ignored. If Nickelsburg turns out to be correct then we'll more likely be removing Fisher's forecasts and maybe writing an article on Nickelsburg. --Ronz (talk) 03:16, 23 October 2010 (UTC)

I did not find a page listing all the recipients but this should be sufficient. Promotional wording in lead.

This is the source you added to support "investor" in the first sentence:

This source doesn't call him an "investor". It calls him a "serial entrepreneur".

Further, the lead isn't intended to be a laundry list of all possible titles, it is intended to be a brief overview of how sources reliably and consistently define the topic. I dispute that sources consistently define him as a public speaker, as there is only one example of such cited in the article. Further, his viral speech was related to his role as an adjunct professor, not as a stand-alone position.

Since your accounts has only ever made edits around this topic, I recommend reviewing Wikipedia:Conflict of interest if this applies to you.

Please also note that, per Help:Minor edit, A minor edit is one that the editor believes requires no review and could never be the subject of a dispute. The addition of vaguely promotional language to the lead is not minor as the term is used on Wikipedia.
