Bad review by TBM being payback for Croker repeatedly besting him in debate seems implausible
Carlyle was pretty dismissive about Croker's Boswell as wellRjccumbria (talk) 01:10, 23 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
I had thought there was a further clincher in the timing
Review was in Sept 1831 issue of Edinburgh Review
TBMs maiden speech in House of Commons was Sept 20 1831
Croker was next speaker and may or may not have laid a glove on TBMs argument, but either way TBM's review would have already been written. :but it turns out that 20/09/1831 is not TBM's maiden speech; it is merely the first speech for which Hansard spells his name right : he previously appears as Mr Macauley. Not much evidence of Croker frequently exposing fallacies, though Rjccumbria (talk) 16:17, 23 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
