Talk:John Stephenson (actor)

Untitled edit

There is another John Stephenson who played international cricket for England. That being so, would there be any objection to making this a disambig page, and instead having John Stephenson (voice actor) (removing the existing redirect from there) and John Stephenson (cricketer)? Loganberry (Talk) 00:48, 5 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

John Stephenson (actor) would be more desirable, as Stephenson has had numerous on-camera roles in addition to voice work. --FuriousFreddy 00:56, 5 August 2005 (UTC)Reply
No problem. I don't know much about this JS; hence my question. I'll not do anything for a day or two at least, in any case. Loganberry (Talk) 01:05, 5 August 2005 (UTC)Reply
Since there have been no objections, I will go ahead and move this JS to John Stephenson (actor), and fix the redirects. Loganberry (Talk) 00:55, 9 August 2005 (UTC)Reply
Now done. Loganberry (Talk) 01:13, 9 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

Sound clip? edit

Does anyone have a sound clip we could use? It would have to be eligible for Creative Commons, and in a format that's used in Wikipedia, but the most logical way to represent a voice actor (particularly of the character-actor type) would be a clip of his voice. Lawikitejana (talk) 19:22, 15 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

That's a good idea, however why a sound clip? Why not just make a link to the DPN agency, of which John Stephenson is a client of, since he is still active and link to his demo Radiohist (talk) 07:58, 21 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Full name edit

So, was he born "August John" or "John Winfield"? Smartie2thaMaxXx (talk) 02:40, 30 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Death edit

There are online references to his death but cannot find an official obituary/notice via the press to confirm it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.169.0.50 (talk) 14:08, 11 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

There is a Social Security Death Certificate for "Name: August J Vercruyssen | Born: 9 Aug 1923 | Died: 29 Dec 2012" -- I think you have to be a member of ancestry.ca to view it, but I can give a screenshot of this, if necessary. Naisenu (talk) 23:55, 11 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

There is no evidence that August J Vercruyssen and John Stephenson are the same person.--Racklever (talk) 22:26, 15 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Edit request on 18 October 2013 edit

John Stephenson was born August John Vercruyssen on 8-9-1923 and died on 12-29-12. This was verified by the SSDI. All current bio on Wiki is incorrect. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 160.109.27.17 (talk) 19:48, 18 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

No actual official obit (i.e. in any kind of press, not just on forums or blogs) has been found anywhere. Family members dispute it as noted. John Stephenson is still listed with his agency, DPN, which would be questionable if he was dead for over a year. Enquiries to people who actually worked with the man, like writer Mark Evanier, have returned no awareness of death. And the biggest issue is there's absolutely nothing to link this "August J. Vercruyssen" to John Stephenson (the Western blog since deleted the entry, and their obit even said he was born to "Ray Stephenson," so it would be odd for someone's parents to have a different legal last name at the time than their son, if the implication is that Vercruyssen was the birth name). (The fact that those fighting hardest to retain the claim that Stephenson is dead are anonymous users doesn't help). -- Aleal (talk) 04:28, 21 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

In his occupation section in the infobox, can someone add in "voice actor" in it too. Because Stephenson is also known for doing voice over work too in his career to besides just acting. 2600:1000:B01D:8E13:9DCD:CF06:6C5B:F6A (talk) 04:57, 31 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Radio & Voice edit

Mr. Stephenson said at a SPERDVAC radio convention that because his voice was very similar to that of John Dehner, he missed out on many voice roles that went to the better known Dehner. Frank Harrigan (talk) 22:54, 25 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
