At some stage, I'll add to this. In the mean time, if you want to add, then please do. Some care will be required with the prejudice he faced. There is a lot of first hand material in the MII museum and library. Also, Patrick Flood's private museum. There was a good article, recently, by Thomas Tag in the keepers log - journal of the United States Lighthouse society. Beam recently featured a Wigham burner on its front cover [1]. Some books: Mulville Ingeniuos Ireland; Tyndall A story of lighthouses; Talbot Lighthouses and lightships; Gleason Kindly Lights ClemMcGann 01:46, 8 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Added a fair bit more, including a little about the rivalry with Douglass. Svejk74 (talk) 11:11, 12 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Edmundson & Co was founded by John Richardson Wigham. There is a filing cabinet in the National Maritime Museum of Ireland with its drawers labeled with the names of the lighthouses they supplied all over the globe. The firm was renamed as F. Barrett & Co, circa. 1900. They had specialised in high precision tools and optics. In 2000 it went into voluntary liquidation. Lugnad (talk) 02:07, 11 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
