Randalia edit

I'd like to add some information to the page, but after composing and decomposing for a bit, I'm going to stick it here and hope that someone better at composing than I can write it up (presuming anyone wants to):

Randalia, John Randel's retirement pied a terre was located just west of Chesapeake City, MD on the south bank of the mouth of the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal. The geographical coordinates are 31 39 15 N 75 52 05 W.

I know how to do geohack, but I don't know that a person should get one and I don't think Randalia is important enough to get its own article.

There's also a fair amount of information about Mr. Randel in this article of the Numismatist: http://books.google.com/books?id=gzdOAAAAYAAJ&pg=PA442&lpg=PA442&dq=john+randel+Randelia+md&source=bl&ots=lpgTAeVQRc&sig=k0oS3U6MEFi1dkxswi6Tqe6W4eU&hl=en&ei=cJaHTYi_E9LpgAe-_bXbCA&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=4&ved=0CDMQ6AEwAw#v=onepage&q=john%20randel%20Randelia%20md&f=false but reducingit to wikipedia format is beyond my poor skills — Preceding unsigned comment added by Miletan (talkcontribs) 01:11, 22 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

You mean "Randelia", and I'll match you. I know how to "reduce [information] to wikipeida format", but I can't find said information in the source. It says it's supposed to be there, but find it I can not. BMK (talk) 22:17, 30 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Benjamin Wright edit

The page for Benjamin Wright sanitizes his role as compared to the account here.

Wright, however, did not stop his campaign against Randel.

As the chief engineer, he was empowered to assess Randel's work, and, after inspecting it, he filed a report on July 30, 1825 which said that Randel was neglecting his duties, and had not moved a sufficient amount of dirt.

In later courtroom testimony, this was determined to be an outright lie,[page needed] and it was also determined that Wright had ordered his assistant to lie, and that at least one member of the canal company's board was aware of the lie and specifically approved of what Wright was doing.

This entire passage is broadly sourced (it appears) to a book-length treatment.

Unfortunately, the specific allegation against Wright is not sourced narrowly enough to introduce into the Benjamin Wright article, where it would help to set the record straight that Wright was hardly a secondary party to the acrimony of the lawsuit.

Page needed flag added. — MaxEnt 22:53, 5 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
