As a probable descendant of Colonel John Hutchinson and Lucy Apsley Hutchison, who is not a member of the aristocracy, the royal family, or an American president, I'd like to question why the author of the article thinks that Andrew Jackson, Lord Bathhurst and Prince Charles are all descended from the colonel as if being imprisoned for treason and losing your estates had no consequences. Lord Bathurst is descended from the Apsley family, of which Lucy Apsley was a member but he is not descended from her. President Andrew Jackson's mother was a Hutchinson from Ireland, not Nottinghamshire. Prince Charles' genealogy does not contain the surname Hutchinson at all.
My family descended to yeoman farmers in the seventeenth century, weavers, bricklayers and coalminers in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Jane - probable grandchild (9) of Lucy Apsley Hutchinson and Colonel John Hutchinson. |
