same man as tried to free American slaves 1791? edit

Is this the same Horne Tooke who tried to make up a subscription to redeem American sailors captured and enslaved by Algerian pirates in 1785 when the US wouldn't do it? See pp. 151-153 of James Leander Cathcart's memoirs, The Captives, 1899, available on http://www.archive.org/details/tripolifirstwarus00cathrich 4.248.222.244 (talk) 21:53, 20 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

'Right Honourable' correct title? edit

I question the correctness of giving him the title 'Right Honourable'(Infobox heading). The title I understand would only have been given to British Peers - he was not a member of an ennobled family - and members of the Privy Council, including ex-officio government ministers, whereas Horne Tooke was only a short-lived backbench MP never in government. I have no quarrel against calling him The Reverend as he was a bona fide ordained Anglican clergyman.Cloptonson (talk) 19:36, 28 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

I removed Rt Hon as he was not in the PC. Atchom (talk) 00:51, 26 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

Impenetrable language edit

I am a native English speaker in Canada, and I can’t understand a lot of this article. There is a lot of undefined jargon and archaic sentence structure. 2001:56A:FA79:5800:5800:4689:A7EE:E971 (talk) 00:25, 6 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
