More?

I would like to see more here. I had the privilege of attending lectures in Applied Maths and Artificial Intelligence by JGT in the seventies. He was deliberately controversial, but also amiable and inspirational. I remember several of his lectures distinctly, 30 years later. The other two Maths lecturers I remember with great fondness and respect are Clive Kilmister and F D Burgoyne. They all made learning FUN.

I'm sure it was John Taylor who said "Some of us don't need religion - we have Star-Trek instead." Please correct this if I'm wrong. Sasha 18:32, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

Yes, inspirational, if this the John Taylor who lectured in quantum field theory at Kings College in the early 80s and author of the bestseller "Black Holes: The End of the Universe" (1973)? I'm saddened by the lack of obituaries I could find on the web, I studied Neural Networks under him in the late 80's.

Is it worth adding his appearance in Steven Hawking's Brief history of Time?

"At the end of my talk the chairman of the session, John G. Taylor from Kings College, London, claimed it was all nonsense. He even wrote a paper to that effect. However, in the end most people, including John Taylor, have come to the conclusion that black holes must radiate like hot bodies if our other ideas about general relativity and quantum mechanics are correct. Thus, even though we have not yet managed to find a primordial black hole, there is fairly general agreement that if we did, it would have to be emitting a lot of gamma rays and X rays."

Also someone who knows how to include this properly in the article should add a mention of his working as Scientific Advisor for the British sci-fi show Space 1999 see http://catacombs.space1999.net/main/crguide/vcc.html
