Merger proposal

I've said there why this is a bad proposal (no rationale given, doesn't meet our criteria for a merger): OTOH this article should be about the historical character, yet it contains a load of stuff about Junkanoo (in the Introduction, and in the Creation of the John Canoe festival) so I have re-written them to better reflect the subject, and moved the festival stuff to the Junkanoo page. Paragraph "Despite this internal conflict..."

There are major issues with this paragraph. It was originally an automatic/machine translation from a part of the German article, but has since been ripped completely out of context by subsequent edits, often done in good faith. For example, the introduction "Despite this internal conflict...." did NOT refer to Brandenburg selling the colony to the Dutch, as it now seems, but to a prior period where Canoe had fallen out with the Brandenburgians (see German language version, as well as edits done by 2601:4a:8103:534a:21da:a930:9432:c53a on February 7/8, 2016). Likewise, the quote at the end has completely lost its sense compared to the German version. It did NOT refer to Canoe being a general, but to an incident where Canoe had a Brandenburgian general disposed. The quote in the German article actually says "...if n... can install or dispose of generals at their own whim...."

I think this is too broken to fix it, also, the German language article does not cite any source in this section, not even for the quote. maybe it would be best to delete this paragraph. 93.241.210.5 (talk) 10:50, 7 July 2020 (UTC)
