Re Denis or Dennis Donoghue query - real name Denis Connell

edit

Re query in View history at 23:33, 28 May 2013‎, about spelling of Denis Donoghue's name. His real name is Denis Connell and it is definitely Denis not Dennis. He is a Melbourne Barrister. References are below:-[1][2][3]

Accusations of racism section

edit

I feel the accusations of racism section could do with a bit of work but thought I'd better bring my concerns here first.

Firstly is the reference to the 2009 Jackson Jive Red Faces act relevant to Blackman's biography? Unlike the act, the judges (Harry Connick Jr., Jackie MacDonald and Red Symons), the host (Daryl Somers) and cartoonist (Andrew Fyfe), Blackman didn't really have any direct involvement with the Jackson 5 act and therefore didn't receive any direct criticism - so feel the Jackson 5 reference is misplaced in Blackman's article.

His feud with Kamahl and the accusations of racism and mocking of people of colour should certainly be included, but perhaps it should also be noted with relevant citations that other people and minorities weren't immune to being similarly mocked - overweight people, elderly people, LGBITIQ+ people etc.

(I also find the terms used within the section like "humiliations were numerous" and "egregious example" are also borderline POV.)

And finally, I also think pedestrian.tv should NEVER be used as a reliable source especially when there are a plethora of more credible sources which could be utilised to verify statements. pedestrian.tv not an objective or balanced website in any way shape or form and are notorious for pumping out Daily Mail-like clickbait sensationalistic tabloid garbage - so I think a better source should definitely be considered to support statements made in the section. 2001:8003:6C0A:B100:CCD5:2A68:CA27:D82E (talk) 04:15, 30 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
