When J.B. Fell came in Italy there were more than 500 Km already operating. So he didn't settled the first railway in Italy.(The first was Napoli-Portici 03 oct. 1839) + The first railway across the Alps was the Sudbahn Trieste-Postumia (part of austrian rly: Sudbahn) 27 july 1857.
