OK, so he discovered the spawning grounds of the eel on an expedition in 1928-1930, and he published this in 1912 (reference 1)? Felsenst (talk) 21:14, 14 August 2009 (UTC)
He did not know the spawning ground in 1912, but he knew by then that the eel did not spawn in the Mediterranean. Have tried to make the text a bit clearer. --JakobT (talk) 20:46, 26 January 2021 (UTC)

- Thanks for the guidance. I get the point about nationality. Cause of death may be borderline. JS died relatively young (56 years) and I have spent years trying to find out what he died from. The absence of this information from normal sources made me suspect something was deliberately hidden, but turns out it was just the flu. I have mentioned it in the main text, which is the important part.JakobT (talk) 10:57, 16 December 2021 (UTC)
