Talk:Joey DeGraw

Latest comment: 6 years ago by InternetArchiveBot in topic External links modified

Joey has become more notable since page deletion in 2006. He now has an album available to buy on iTunes & Amazon, is the co-founder/owner of the National Underground bar which has a page on Wikipedia, plus it's record label, all of which have happened since that time. In addition, in television interviews, Gavin DeGraw has also mentioned that Joey is part of the reason for his success, telling him that if he wants to make it, he ought to write his own songs and upon hearing the hook from 'I don't wanna be' told him that was his hit record, predicting what was to come. Add to that his song writing with artists such as Joss Stone & Chris Whitley, the latter saying of him, "What makes Joey such a deep writer and overwhelming talent, besides his god given gifts, is that ... it is all about music as an art form. He is a purist and the only young blood in music today that gives me hope." Hopefully this proves his worth. Cal86w (talk) 23:07, 13 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

You don't need to prove his worth, just his notability. Has he done any of the things listed at WP:MUSIC- signed with a major label, made an international tour, won a major award? Are there reliable independent sources that can confirm that he's done one of the things listed at WP:MUSIC? -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 23:11, 13 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
I will agree with Cal that this article is sufficiently different from the first one that speedy deletion criterion G4 does not apply here. I also think that the ownership of the club, in combination with the album, is enough of an assertion of notability that A7 does not apply. However, that would not keep the article from being nominated for AfD a second time. I agree with FisherQueen: find more independent sources (which could also have him meet the general notability guidelines) and/or clearly demonstrate how he meets WP:MUSIC. —C.Fred (talk) 23:15, 13 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Would the tour listed here count?[1] Cal86w (talk) 23:31, 13 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

That looks like an international tour to me; what do you think, C. Fred? -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 23:34, 13 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
It's definitely an international tour. Where does bandsintown.com get its information? I hit Pollstar to verify, and they do not have a listing.[2]C.Fred (talk) 23:46, 13 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

I'd imagine Joey's official site, which mentions him performing select dates in Europe with Gavin, as opening act. It also mentions that National Underground Records has secured national and international distribution through Sony Red - the album/songs also is/are published with BMI. But do any independent sites also have the dates? —C.Fred (talk) 00:49, 14 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

I just found this link[1] on bandsintown.com, it says it gets it's information from across the web. It's not fan edited or anything like that, so could that be classed as independent. Joey's website doesn't list the European tour dates in as much detail as that, only stating that he was going to Europe. Is this now enough to prove notability? References edit

There are a lot of citations of YouTube in the references. As a rule, YouTube is to be avoided as a source (copyright issues with linking, authentication of content). Where possible, those should be replaced with links to third-party sources (e.g., Billboard magazine articles). —C.Fred (talk) 23:12, 13 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
