Original French version

It appears to be here: <https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/originals/bf/14/28/bf1428b5762b3092fc63bc4ff57fccb5.jpg> - might this or a better copy (perhapy directly from L'express) be useful to illustrate the character's origin? -ProhibitOnions (T) 09:01, 25 January 2017 (UTC)

Another controversy

I seem to remember another controversy; this one focused on how part of Joe Camel's face was drawn. (I want to say that the article I read back then was in TIME or NEWSWEEK or a similar publication.)

If you start between the eyes and follow just the nose all the way down (some 'complainers' included the lips), it was claimed that this was an overtly phallic, and sexual, representation of a man's penis/erection.

If I remember correctly, this hullabaloo occurred near the end of Joe Camel's appearance in US advertising.

Since I'm rather certain this can be confirmed, shouldn't it also be mentioned somewhere in the article?

Just a thought. 2600:8800:786:A300:C23F:D5FF:FEC4:D51D (talk) 11:29, 23 September 2017 (UTC)
