Blanking of controversy section by User:TDC edit

User:TDC blanked the controversy section with the summary: "one article in the Naperville Sun does not a controversy make". The Naperville Sun accused the DuPage States Attorney of prosecuting two people for political reasons. It is highly notable. As you know, lots more sources are available[1][2]. — goethean 21:16, 10 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

One suburban newspaper article makes something highly notable?
NPOV says that the article should fairly represent all significant viewpoints that have been published by a reliable source, and should do so in proportion to the prominence of each.
There is no "controversy" here and after reading the article from the Naperville Sun, it does nto even mention Birkett (love that link from the People's World Weekly though!). Torturous Devastating Cudgel 21:23, 10 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
The Chicago Tribune article has a quotation from Birkett claiming that the prosecution is about highway safety. — goethean 22:07, 10 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
so one of the articles you cited mentioned Birkett, that’s a start, all be it a bad one. And where, exactly, do "any" of the articles call this a controversy, for one, and where in any of these article are Birkett's actions called controversial? Well, I guess if you consider county officials prosecuting people based on partisan political sentiment to be uncontroversial, then there is no controversy. — goethean 22:26, 10 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

See, that's the thing.. it aint what you think and it aint what I think, its what a RS thinks, otherwise its original research. And so far, you have yet to demonstrate either notability or who specificly criticizes Birkett for this. Torturous Devastating Cudgel 23:19, 10 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

You mean, except for the Naperville Sun editorial and the Chicago Tribune article. — goethean 14:38, 13 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

The Sun editorial does not mention Birkett's name, the Tribune does not call it a controversy, and basing an entire section in an article off of information like this is a violation of WP:WEIGHT and WP:BLP. Sorry, no can do. Torturous Devastating Cudgel 14:51, 13 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
It is of no interest to me or anyone else what partisan Republican hacks will or will not do. — goethean 16:33, 13 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
What are you talking about? You still have yet to make any good case for the inclusion of this material. Torturous Devastating Cudgel 16:51, 13 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
