Proposed Deletion

I am removing the proposed deletion tag from this page. I agree that on matters of fact regarding individuals we should give great deference to them. Unfortunately a public figure is not the arbiter of whether or not they are a worthy topic for an encyclopedia. If Ms. Keyes or another has a specific complaint about the information presented, they should feel free to correct it, or even better, discuss it on the talk page, and work to create a better aritcle. If you disagree with me and would like this page removed I would encourage you to AfD it. Not my leg 22:56, 24 February 2006 (UTC)

That's fine, I was just undoing the blanking. However, I figured it was a relevant candidate for prod as the subject and article is borderline notable. But I don't have any interest in this one way or the other. – Doug Bell ^{talk•contrib} 06:24, 25 February 2006 (UTC)

But she is not a public figure. She is married to a public figure. She has never held office, she has never sought to run for any office and she is covered under privacy laws that protect the family of public figures. --Sethxy 04:17, 2 April 2006 (UTC)

Privacy laws keep people from tapping your phone lines. They don't keep people from writing about you based on public information, that would be censorship. Unless you can find such a law specifically? NickelShoe (Talk) 20:14, 3 April 2006 (UTC)

Doesn't Make Sense

What does running a soup kitchen have to with having Indian and Asian roots? -- 128.91.41.206

I was just about to ask that here. If it is not explained, I think the text should be modified. A devout Roman Catholic and as a testament to her Asian and Indian roots, Mrs. Keyes runs her own soup kitchen in Montgomery County, Maryland. -- Kjkolb 09:29, 2 April 2006 (UTC)

The linked source has practically nothing to do with the subject of the article. The only vaguely relevant section says "Maya announced that she was getting kicked out of her house by her parents on her weblog a couple weeks ago. The blog is available at: http://www.xanga.com/home.aspx?user=Xmisled0youthX.". Appreciate the effort but a link to a web story on a GLBT site which in turn links to a blog and doesn't mention the subject of the article by name or independently verify the relevant event doesnt strike me as a great source.
