I noticed that this article is missing sources. A good source might be: The Six Goswamis of Vrindavan, Steven Rosen (Satyaraja Dasa). I have this book but I can't find it right now, but I will certainly help out when I find this and other books. Ekantik talk 20:29, 5 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Demise after 1608

edit

it is currently well known that the demis of Sri Jiva occured after 1608 as that is the year of his will. reference : the gosvami of Vrndavan in Govinadadeva a dialogue in stone 1991 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2402:3A80:DB3:F7B0:4936:7DD1:351:E47A (talk) 08:32, 27 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

The only similar book I could find is Govindadeva: A Dialogue in Stone (1996) by Margaret H. Case. Searching for "1608" in the book, I found the following three statements:
  • Line of Jiv: 1. Jiv Gosa'in (1546-1608). (p. 132)
  • Manohar Das: 1608 Witnesses codicil to will of Jiv Gosa'in (Jiva Gosvami).[25] (p. 150)
  • Radha Raman Das: 1608 Witnessed codicil to the Sanskrit will of Jiv Gosa'in (Jiva Gosvami).[26] (p. 153)
A description of this book states: "This volume incorporates the papers presented at a conference held in 1991." I guess the primary questions are: (1) have the presentations been accepted? (2) are there other published sources or does 1608 depend solely on this one source?
I also noticed that the article states Jiva's birth year is c. 1513 while this book says 1546. When I search the book for "1546", no additional information is provided except a statement about Raghunath purchasing some land in 1546 and willing it to Jiva, apparently born in the same year. (p. 154) I'm not certain about the accuracy of this book since the article has statements suggesting Jiva was alive during the time of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu which ended in the 1530s.
