Organization

Well if you look on the To do list, you'll notice that this needs to be written in paragraph form. By that I mean that there should be a couple of paragraphs about his NEXTEL Cup career instead of the season-by-season summaries, as there really isn't enough info to warrent them. the format of this article is horrible (along with most of the other nascar pages) you should have a look at the formula one articles cause they are really well strudcuted

lacking info

I noticed that Jimmie's wins top 5's and top 10's are not listed with his other info,(such as birth place, awards, etc.) like most other drivers. Shouldn't that be added? IloveIndy 22:06, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

Name

I reverted this edit because "jimmiejohnson.com" (the source given for the change) redirects to a website for team Lowe's Racing. It is not the official website for Johnson, but a site for the sponsor. Also, there is no mention of him being named after a family friend (which was mentioned in the edit I reverted) in that bio on the sponsor site, or anywhere that I could find. 1. I say its too broad because what you added in the hidden comment doesn't link to a specific page on that site that says this. And i asked for this because its too easy to say that his name is "this" or "that". But since most people who are called "Jimmie" or "Jimmy" are named "James", we need a source that says his name is "Jimmie".
2. I did not add that "fan site" as a source. I reverted back to it.

• But, you can't go on the fact that just because of majority of people who go by Jimmie are infact named James, Johnson's first name is James. I would need a source stating that his name is, in fact, James. Not the other way around. Unless jimmie-johnson.net has a source, there is no difference in me making a website page, devoting it to Johnson, and clamming his real name is Bill. • Here's another take: I have just seen the edit page that indicates that Jimmie Kenneth Johnson is his real name and includes a source, as well as instructions that the name not be changed to "James." Yet I go to the site and sure enough it reads "James." Someone ignores the instruction. Unbelievable! I am acting for permission to change it back and include the source on the main page. 2008 Season Changes

I did a major clean-up of the 2008 Season section for several reasons:

• As I have seen discussed sometime before, only notable events throughout the season should be kept. This includes (or what I think includes) poles, wins, notable crashes, etc.
• Several different races' sections had poorly written sentences, and a few had problems relating to tense, etc.
• The way it was written did not include all the races, and, as a mentioned above, most of the races included were not notable at all.
• The 2008 section was extremely long, compared to other parts of the article.

This is the first time I've done some serious editing on Wikipedia in many, many months, so if I made some errors, please correct them.

Career Stats/Poles

I have included NASCAR sites that reference 20 poles, and I have provided links to the definition of a pole position and an explanation about qualifying rainouts and whether poles are awarded for them. 152.7.31.118 (talk) 03:30, 28 August 2009 (UTC)

OK. Hard to tell when often news articles will say they are "awarded the pole due to rain". I also see that the career averages were calculated wrong originally, as they were the average of the seasonal averages instead of an overall career average. Only questioning now the 2002 average start, as nascar.com says 14.3. The two different sources have a different starting spot for the 2002 Pepsi 400: 29th39th. The latter one lists two people as starting 39th, so I think it should really be 29th (what nascar.com says). --Wean0r (talk) 04:25, 28 August 2009 (UTC)

Small detail

I was reading through this article and i noticed the part at the bottom where it says Jimmie Johnson could join Dale Earnhardt, Ron Hornaday, richard petty and Gordon as the only to win 4+ championships. I wouldn't include Ron Hornaday there. No offense to him, but that would be like saying in baseball if someone won the world series for the 4th time and u include someone who won the world series of the minors 4+. They just don't belong in the same category.
