Commercial
editI heard a rumor that, while playing for Baltimore, he made a commercial for a car dealership where he said "Hi, I'm Jim "Big Stick" Traber." Can anyone verify this. God, I gotta see that commercial. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 63.3.5.130 (talk) 02:59, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
Time as Dbacks color analyst
editI know that Jim was the Dbacks color analyst for the 2002 season and possibly the 2003 season. Is there anyone that can figure that out and edit it in correctly? I don't know the exact beginning and ending seasons or else I would edit it in. Jim, you gotta be one of the few people who would visit this page, you should edit it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.230.137.165 (talk) 04:05, 28 July 2011 (UTC)
- Took care of it. And no, I'm not Jim Traber. ;) Kithira (talk) 12:33, 28 July 2011 (UTC)
Relationship with sons
edit
The text Traber is estranged from both his biological children.
has been added to the article multiple times, cited to this article. The source says
Unfortunately, I don’t have a good relationship with either one of my sons right now. It’s the saddest thing in my life. Unfortunately, my ex-wife did a lot of things to hurt my relationship. I’m not going to blame it all on her. I didn’t do the best. I pray about that every day. I pray that it changes. It really is a sad part of my life.
Not having a "good relationship" isn't accurately summarized by "estranged". It's also from a 10-year-old interview. I question whether it's WP:DUE to even mention, but if it is kept, I suggest: In 2014, Traber stated that he does not "have a good relationship" with his sons.

- In my opinion it's WP:UNDUE, especially considering this is going back ten years. If it's to be included at all, I agree that it needs the more accurate description from the source: "does not have a good relationship". signed, Willondon (talk) 18:12, 28 April 2024 (UTC)
- Traber is a very outspoken figure in the OKC radio scene. He attracts a lot of flak on air. I think a level of page protection against random IPs/new users is the only way to shut this down. They are trying to attack his character.-UCO2009bluejay (talk) 22:14, 28 April 2024 (UTC)
- There hasn't been enough persistent disruptive editing for an admin to consider protection. Schazjmd (talk) 22:24, 28 April 2024 (UTC)
- And assuming other editors' motives is not assuming good faith. It's not needed anyway. I reviewed the ten year old mention of where he said "does not have a good relationship". Does that mean they only communicate through brief congratulation texts on birthdays and holidays? Attend family functions on occasion, but never share a dinner table lest politics be mentioned? Talk occasionally but always overcast by unresolved issues? It doesn't add anything to inform the article. So I removed it again. signed, Willondon (talk) 22:48, 28 April 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks, @Willondon. I invited the editor who originally added it to join the discussion but they've only ever made 2 edits and haven't responded. Schazjmd (talk) 23:03, 28 April 2024 (UTC)
- Hi, I apologize, I have not checked my wikipedia account in some time to contribute to this thread. It is a matter of public record that one of his children, Beau Traber, emancipated himself from his father as a minor and can be found on the Oklahoma online court case search (https://www.oscn.net/dockets/GetCaseInformation.aspx?db=cleveland&number=CJ-2008-1040&cmid=407174). - @Icarus2999, see WP:BLPPRIMARY:
" Do not use trial transcripts and other court records, or other public documents, to support assertions about a living person."
Schazjmd (talk) 19:31, 29 August 2024 (UTC) - Also note that the filing was 16 years ago. We have no idea what state their relationship is in since then, so even if we could use that source, we still could not say "is estranged". Schazjmd (talk) 19:35, 29 August 2024 (UTC)

- Yeah random IPs always have the project's best interest in mind. This is why mandatory registration is needed.-UCO2009bluejay (talk) 22:50, 28 April 2024 (UTC)
