For some reason the image isn't displaying in FireFox for me, it just shows the caption box. But it is displaying in IE, now that I check. Hmm. Anyone else having trouble? --W.marsh 03:43, 18 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

Displays just fine on Safari on Mac OS. It also displays fine for me on FireFox (again, on Mac OS). --Nlu 03:47, 18 September 2005 (UTC)Reply
Guess it's just me then. Well sorry for the hassle. --W.marsh 03:53, 18 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

The Catch

edit

how is this referred to as the catch first of all that name is already taken and it was done on the biggest stage in baseball the world series by a guy named Willie Mays that put up hall of fame stats which Edmonds does not have.

Jim Edmonds wasn't the "starting first basemen for the Cardinals for the duration of Pujols' injury." He played 6 games at first and only started 4. Chris Duncan played the majority of 1st base while AP was out.

That whole paragraph is of dubious value. Edmonds has played a whopping 50 games at first base in his career, nearly half of them coming in his rookie season, 1994. 28 games/partial games over the next 12 seasons isn't worth making a big deal of in a relatively short article. The assertation that Edmonds hits better while playing first is dubious as well, given that his lifetime splits while playing first are .299/.392/.465 while his career numbers are .289/.382/.539. A 10 point increase in batting average doesn't make up for a significant reduction in power. I'm deleting the mention of his being a better hitter in his time at first base. Nickname

edit

There has been some adding/subtracting/changing of the nickname section on this page. Jimmy Baseball is the nickname that has been used on radio broadcasts by Mike Shannon so that should be the nickname displayed here. People use Hollywood Edmonds in a negative sense referring to him as a showboat or saying that he is acting hurt. Therefore since the broadcast has used Jimmy Baseball in the past and not Hollywood Edmonds this is the more appropriate nickname.

11/12/2006 - I added a link to the Saint Louis Post-Dispatch article by a local, respected writer - Bernie Miklasz. The nickname referenced before was from a non-local AP writer. This is the more appropriate nickname. Thanks. Seak17 19:59, 12 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

I've re-inserted the reference to "Hollywood." It was properly cited, and the AP qualifies as a reliable source. There's no reason that the article can't include both nicknames.|Mr. Darcy talk 22:56, 12 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

I've removed the reference to "Hollywood". The citation is a dead link and doesn't support the claim. "Jimmy Baseball" is cited. "Jimmy Ballgame" is how most Cardinal fans know him and I've followed him his entire career (I've also cited that nickname to a local source). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.15.15.64 (talk) 02:34, 21 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Can anyone verify that Jim Edmonds went to Diamond Bar High for High school? -Igeoffi 06:45, 20 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
