Talk:Jessie Lavington Evans

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because: Why would this be deleted when all the information has been added by credible sources, articles, websites etc. All I need to do is add sources to the text that marry up with the references and links provided I would have thought? A little bizarre when all this information is provoked from credible sources. --Doggies77 (talk) 03:35, 16 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

The artist is held in the Murray Art Museum and studied with Australia's top artists at the National Gallery of Art in Victoria (see Below) so it's beyond doubt that she is an artist. You can follow this link and she her portraits on display in the gallery.

Michael,

If you find more info please pass it on. In some ways I think her career will one day be rediscovered like Clarice Beckett. The two portraits were on display at the Library Museum’s Crossing place. That space is currently under renovation and they may be on display when that space reopens but you can see a virtual tour of it here. https://www.alburycity.nsw.gov.au/leisure/museum-and-libraries/exhibitions/permanent/crossing-place

Jessie Evans is also held at the Art Gallery of Ballarat. This is a major public gallery in Australian like the Murray Art Museum, this again indicates her cultural importance in Australia. May I remark that just because baseball and basketball stars are very popular in the USA, that does not make them of cultural significance in other countries and yet sports and sports players in the US are accorded vast mileage of text on Wikipedia. Art and culture is as important as sport or pay TV serials. Wikipedia should reflect its global users Bebe Jumeau (talk) 09:05, 27 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
