I can assure you that Jessie, like me was no feminist. I have achieved some "firsts" as well in my career. I hide them because I do not want the feminists to exploit me or my achievements. I tried to write a decent, historical article on Jessie but have been thwarted at every step. I cannot remove my entry and name from the history but I wish I could. I feel very ashamed of what is now the entry. Be assured, what is here it is not my contribution. Nor do I want any of my extensive reseach included in the article. I very much regret starting this page. Any of my research that people try to sneek in will need to be accompanied by appropriate references. Fortunately my references are not recorded. Do not believe everything you read, either. Check it all out for yourself first. That can be quite expensive.

Also, Wikipedia does not like articles like this one starting with the name of the person. I know from personal Wiki'dia experience. Phala 12 May 2007

Jessie was not a feminist, however she one of the first female doctors and her efforts were both aided and applauded by feminist groups and this cannot be ignored. The information deleted did not reference feminism at all, instead it was formatting (which made the relatively lengthy article easier to read), information about her younger years and information about her later years and death. As such it has been reverted. If you have any extensive research to add then by all means do so, but remember that wikipedia is a place for all the facts, not just those that we prefer to view.

Also I've looked around and most biographies on wikipedia have the person's name at the start (in bold), however we can call a more experienced editor to verify this. Guycalledryan 13:33, 12 May 2007 (UTC)

I'm sorry, but all information added to wikipedia is released under the GNU Free Documentation Licence. Also the information you deleted is freely avaliable on the internet, and one such reference is the external link to her biograpy. Furthermore I made changes to the information in the passage that was deleted.

I do not know what you have against my edits, and I wholly accept that any in error should be changed, but your edits are only serving to detract from the value of the article and can almost be considered vandalism. Guycalledryan 23:40, 12 May 2007 (UTC)

There are some interesting errors in the ADB article. I am happy to let you keep copying them. Someone hasn't done their homework fully. User:Phayla 13 May 2007

Most, most, most interesting. ADB online has information on JA not in the printed version of which I have a copy. Moreover the information was only known to the family until I published it. Also, some of the information only became available to the general public quite recently, some only a matter of several months ago. So I wonder at the unquoted source of information in the ADB. Finally this article is going in the right direction. If there are errors in the ADB article feel free to correct them, however please discuss them objectively on the talk page and refrain from deleting large chunks of the article without replacing them. Guycalledryan 04:58, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

And please refrain from removing discussion from the talk page, I noticed you deleted your post about wanting to remove work released under GNU for breaching copyright. Acts like these only serve to cover up past mistakes and make debate on an article harder to follow. Jessie achieved all this by abrogating her children. She basically got rid of them. They didn't thank her for it. In one sense they admired her. In another sense they disliked being "motherless". The two boys were sent to live in Victoria. The girls were sent to live in the country. Two of them got right away from Australia. One never came back. The other returned after she had died. There was no family and no family life. For Jessie it was like being the single woman she should have been. She wanted her cake and to eat it too. Yes a great woman, a great example. She achieved, but at what a cost! To others she was wonderful; to her own family cold, hard, calculating and wearing a big "number one". Let us all follow her and do the same. A summary of the children and their lives is in the book. One also has a lot written about him. I don't think I have a copy. (I tend to avoid copies to make it harder to accuse me (with a background in professional research and tertiary education) of plagiarism.(See also New Scientist January 2007 (not sure exact date)on this issue-most interesting! I also had a lot of personal contact with two of her grandchildren. There is a photo of Jessie published and photos of two of her brothers. The brothers are very dissimilar in looks. She is very like one of her brothers in looks and very like my father and like me. My father and her brother look more alike than many brothers do . User:Phayla 14 May 2007

Reference Medical Journal of Australia 1960; 2: 516-517 makes no reference whatsoever to Jessie Aspinall. I read the article three times searching for any reference to her. I have removed the reference from the site. I recommend that people check references before posting them on this site. There is no point in just copying other people's mistakes. Have also checked other material and have found a mistake. I shall bide my time and give others time to find and correct their mistakes. User:Phayla 13 June 2007
