Change this unfortunate title! edit

Herod's Jerusalem had lots of water conduits of all kinds, this title is useless as it is now, plus it doesn't conform to any of the names usually given to the water tunnel the article deals with. The road or street has been called pilgrimage road or stepped street, the tunnel "central" because it follows the central (or Tyropoean) Valley of ancient Jerusalem, which separates the Temple Mount from the Upper City. Any and each of these terms can be combined into a better name for the tunnel.
Please mind that a "channel" can be open, a "tunnel" cannot. Also, in AE one can speak of a "storm drain", while BE uses "sewer", which is misleading here (runoff, not just waste water), with "drain" being a good common denominator.Arminden (talk) 00:34, 7 December 2015 (UTC)ArmindenArminden (talk) 00:34, 7 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

Date edit

I have no more time to do more research. Ritmeyer considered in 2011 that most of the drain tunnel is Hasmonean. It seems more likely to me that would be Herodian, considering the age of the street above or the aspect of the Hasmonean tunnel at the other, northern end of the Temple Mount. Anyone with recent info? Thanks. Arminden (talk) 00:34, 7 December 2015 (UTC)ArmindenArminden (talk) 00:34, 7 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

9 yrs on, and no reaction. Imaginable scenario: Hasmoneans improve the existing open channel or underground tunnel, but Herod, his descendants, and/or Pilate redo the work on a grand scale. Mind the newest Pilate date for expanded stepped street above. Arminden (talk) 15:07, 13 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
