Self-promotion?

Page seems like self-promotion. Removal recommended. Bidness (talk) 13:36, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

I disagree. There are a number of references to Jero in the media now. Note, there is a lot of biographical information in this article: http://www.japantoday.com/category/entertainment-arts/view/mix-master-jero-breathes-new-life-into-enka which could be used in the wiki. Japan Today is not a reliable news source. It needs to be proven that this is not simply self-promotion, or removal within one week. Bidness (talk) 09:56, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
Bearing in mind that only one reference source (Jero's profile on the JVC Music site) out of nine for the article is a primary source, could you be more specific as to which particular parts you think are "self-promotion", and how the article should be improved? --DAJF (talk) 11:19, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
DAJF makes a good point that there are no primary sources on this article. Recommended for speedy deletion. Bidness (talk) 19:27, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
Actually I wrote that only one of the nine reference sources used was a primary source. As you seem to be confused about the difference between primary and third-party sources, you might benefit from reading the Wikipedia:Verifiability guidelines. I would also recommend reading Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion to familiarize yourself with the valid criteria for speedy deletion of articles. --DAJF (talk) 22:41, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
Firstly, this article is not a candidate for speedy deletion. It does not meet the criteria, and would have to go through a deletion proposal if you thought it should be removed. Such a proposal is not likely to be successful because the subject is extremely notable.
Secondly, article talk pages are for discussion on how to improve the article. Please don't swoop down on a talk page and post terse messages about how you hate the article. Posts like "It needs to be proven that this is not simply self-promotion, or removal within one week" read like threats, and they are far from helpful. If you see problems with an article, then either fix them yourself, or leave a message on the talk page detailing what you think they are.
Finally, the article seems fine to me, if perhaps a little short. The number and type of references seem more than adequate for the article at this stage. I very much doubt that Jero has been here writing about himself on the English Wikipedia (of course editing articles about oneself isn't specifically disallowed anyway), but even if he has he's notable in his own right and the claims made in the article are all verifiable so I can't see how it qualifies as self promotion. "[T]he article seems...perhaps a little short." Good point. Perhaps it should then be recommended for speedy deletion. Bidness (talk) 09:04, 16 August 2008 (UTC)
