Did Jeremy Soule compose the music of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords?

Then how come it isn't said in his website?

He did compose Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, right?

Dumoren 10:28, 14 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Soule composed the first KOTOR, Mark Griskey made the second KOTOR! Jeremy Soule is only listed as additional composer, because most of his themes where re-used in KOTOR 2 89.53.114.255 09:29, 18 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Credit lists

edit

hi, I was just wondering. I was the one that organized the video game credits in the border rack. It contained all the video games that Mr. Soule worked on that I knew or could find. Yet user JeronMoore reverted it back to the way it was in claim of "Official rollback to previous credit list. Artist did not approve change made by anonymous user." I do not understand the part artist did not approve. Did Mr. Soule say he did not like it? If so I would like a source of him saying this, and if it was something an anonymous user did after me why not just revert back before him. I am just pointing this out because I do not understand why it was reverted back to the old one with just a list a very few works on it and album covers that really have no reason on being there. The album covers if added need to have their on album pages or probably just added to the video game's page that they are for.

The wishes of artists are not the concern of wikipedia. Alus is in the right here, feel free to add back yur table Alus. Jeron does not have "official" control of this page. 141.151.3.195 07:53, 8 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

re: Credit lists

edit

Alus, please send an e-mail to info@artistryentertainment.com and Jeremy will reply confirming his wishes to revert the credit list back to its former state. This isn't a criticism on your contribution, it is simply a professional preference by the composer. I'm going to go and revert the page back now. Please sent that e-mail so we can resolve this issue. After Jeremy e-mails you, I will be more than happy to e-mail you as well to explain this further in private discussion. This is not the sort of thing that needs discussion in an open forum.

Thanks man, Jeron

re: KOTOR 2

edit

Also, Dumoren- Mark Griskey is the credited composer on KOTOR 2, but Jeremy's themes (and actual recordings from KOTOR 1) were used. John Williams did not write the music for Superman 2 and 3, but most people wouldn't know that as Ken Thorne was hired on to fill in the gaps in his absence.

THAT SAID, we originally did not include KOTOR 2 in our credit listing. To support my argument, Williams' does not list Supes 2 + 3 in his filmographies, and Danny Elfman does not list car commercials under his. Griskey was the hired composer on KOTOR 2, and he can have his credit. That's fair.

Jeremy's Wiki credit list will remain factual and to-the-point as long as Jeremy can control it. I manage those tasks for him.

Thanks, Jeron

Jeron Moore 11:24, 10 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

I guess your right, though we could just say "original composer" here. Or are just going to ignore this?

Dumoren 08:37, 11 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

I'd say it's a non-issue, Pece.  :) We appreciate your enthusiasm, however. Thanks and keep at it.

Aww, no photo of Jeremy on his page? Wasn't there an awesome one of Jeremy sitting on the rocks with his laptop composing, he took it for Garritan's GPO (Personal Orchestra) VST ads. Either way, as I see that Jeremy's representation reads here, let him know I still can't get the Morrowind theme out of my head. I love it. =) Alanlastufka 00:48, 13 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

The man is a legend! Someone give him a medal! :D

I concur, Mr. Soule is amazing. There definitely needs to be a picture of him on this page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.79.190.14 (talk) 23:43, 23 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Does anyone know if he's working on the Guild Wars: Eye of the North soundtrack? I'd assume he is considering the first three games had soundtracks composed by him... --Rambutaan 03:19, 28 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Warhammer 40000

edit

Didn't Jeremy compose the music of Warhammer 40000: Dawn of War?

Dumoren 11:38, 14 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

He did compose the music to the original, but not the expansions, according to the in-game credits. I will add this. Taurrandir 06:30, 11 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Did he actually make the music FOR oblivion, or did they just borrow 100% of the game's soundtrack from Guild Wars? Cus that's what it sounds like. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.188.141.187 (talk) 00:20, 12 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

There should be information about the accusations and legal action taken by Mr Soule (who has no Soul) to remove their music from their website.

I also see this as a fit place to share my opinion, and where others may do so also. As part of the KHInsider community, I wanted to share my opinion on the legal action taken against the website KHInsider. I have not been influenced to share this opinion by the owner(s) of KHInsider or any of the site's affiliates.

KHInsider has done something very hard. It has spent time and money investing in helping people everywhere be able to get music for free. But not just any music, music that is either very hard to find to buy, or impossible to even get at all! Now they have had some copyrighted albums available to buy online at reasonable prices fro msites such as Square Enix. However, KHInsider has quickly and hapily replied by removing the content Square Enix requested. If you would like your music removed, this would be reasonable also.

However, your act of "Heroics" you have attempted hasn't "helped" our country, people trying to hear great music, or even artists. You have merely removed great music from the possible grasp of people anywhere! You havn't any good thing at ALL, you have, in reality, done something disgraceful and.. stupid. As someone of musical taste and achievement, we would think you of all people would unserstand what KHInsider is and has been trying to do. Yet you go and do such a dirty, rotten thing. What you have done is a disgrace to the term of a Video Game Composer, to OCReMixers, and to musicians everywhere.

While you are at it, go ahead and shoot Santa. You're good at taking away things that give awesome things for good reasons to people! You're good at saddening great amounts of people!

Why have you done this? What good has it done? What BAD has it done? Honestly answer these questions to yourself. Then, maybe... you'll try and do something... to redeem yourself. --8.7.69.231 (talk) 01:13, 19 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

I wrote a short line about this incident onto the page. I'll boycott myself this man until he cancels his lawsuit. UltimateSephiroth (talk) 10:02, 4 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
An anonymous IP seems to have something against this information; I have the feeling this is the aforementioned man, Jeremy Soule, himself, trying to hide any negative feedback. Well, whatever. The edit can always be seen from the page history. UltimateSephiroth (talk) 21:20, 6 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
Ugh. His music is copyrighted, you know. He was well within his right to sue them - his music was not within the public domain. He does not have to "redeem" himself - KHInsider promotes the fine art called stealing. And by putting the music of his that they did upon their, they were taking from his livelihood.
You say that KHInsider holds music that is rare and hard to find/buy. However. Most of Jeremy Soule's stuff is FAR from hard to find. Morrowind? Oblivion? You get those tracks when you buy the games, both which are widely available. Same with Neverwinter Nights. None of his albums are "rare", with perhaps the exception of Secret of Evermore, which was previously removed regardless.
What KHInsider is doing is ILLEGAL. Not much of the music is in the public domain. It is like a website that you can go to download videos and television series to your computer.
Oh, and a disgrace to video game composers, OCRemixers, and musicians everywhere? Square Enix had every reason to sue - they chose not to. Jeremy Soule does too. As does Nintendo, Namco, Sega, Atari, and thousands of others. You are stealing from them - it is like going into their own bank accounts and robbing them.
Bravo, Jeremy Soule. Bravo for doing something that should have been done long ago. Mahare (talk)02:59, 11 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
The difference here is that he insisted that ALL music should be taken down, not only his work. Do you sue the whole Facebook and insist total deletion of all pictures if your friend uploads one picture where your face can be seen? Do you sue the whole last.fm and insist total deletion of all songs if somebody uploads some of your songs on the site? Think again. What rights does JS have to meddle with other artists' material? That's not his business IMO. Also, you know, that's not 'stealing', that's 'sharing'. When you steal, one loses the item in question and the other acquires it. When you share, no one loses anything. ;) UltimateSephiroth (talk) 12:18, 14 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
That's where you're wrong - it's as much sharing as movie piracy. 9/10 of the music on KHInsider was illegal. Also, what proof is there that Jeremy Soule said this besides KHInsider? Do you believe that a Jew is less than a man with blonde hair and blue eyes merely because a white supremacist says so? Frankly, I'm surprised KHInsider lasted this long. And people DO lose - be it the individuals selling the rare albums on eBay, the companies for not being able to sell the soundtracks they released, or game companies for holding the copyright for music that is being freely distributed. The music is NOT in the public domain. If it was, THEN it would be sharing. 207.159.163.2 (talk) 17:37, 14 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Edit war over the lawsuit information

edit

There is a little edit war over whether or not to include a paragraph on this alleged lawsuit. As edit wars go, this one should be easy to solve -- to whoever is trying to add that information, you need to include a cite to a reliable source. It needs to be verifiable. Blogs, forums, and the website itself are not reliable. You need a news source, like an industry magazine or a news website. If the edit war continues I'll protect the page, but since this is a BLP issue I support keeping the information out without a source. Thanks, Antandrus (talk) 14:29, 12 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Jeremy Soule has taken legal action against KHInsider, which has worked hard to preserve impossible to find and hard to find music from both anime and games for hosting the music for free online. KHInsider has complied with any label or artist who has requested their music be removed. Lets stop this Jeremy Soule Jerk! He is a disgrace to sites he participates in like OCReMix and the games he composes for. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.139.146.114 (talk) 03:34, 16 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

The music wasn't in the public domain for the most part. KHInsider was in the wrong, and hosting most of the music is a magical word called "illegal". While Jeremy Soule's action was drastic, he was more "in the right" than they were. Hundreds of intellectual properties were being illegally distributed because of KHInsider. Also, don't lump OCRemix in with that unless one of their moderators says something to the extent of being upset at him. Also, besides KHInsider, can you point out a source? If Shigeru Miyamoto was the only source that said that PS3s cause cancer, would you believe that too? 68.112.243.159 (talk) 23:41, 2 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

"emulates real orchestral music so well that it is often indistinguishable from genuine"

edit

As a composer for orchestra I have to strongly disagree with this. Maybe to people who are only casually familiar with music by real orchestras it's "often indistinguishable from genuine", but for anyone who is familiar with orchestral music, it's obviously electronic. This should be removed.--75.81.193.161 (talk) 08:56, 11 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

How about saying something like, his music has been praised for sounding more realistic than other synthesized music? Cause I've heard that a few times. NPOV and more accurate. C Teng [talk] 17:22, 31 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
