Fair use rationale for Image:Jeralyn Merritt.jpg edit

Image:Jeralyn Merritt.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Someone substituted a new image (with same name) for the old one. It no longer claims "fair use" but claims public domain, according to the information posted by its uploader. Please see the image page by clicking on the image. (It differs from one objected to by bot. above.) --NYScholar (talk) 06:55, 22 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
Substituted image deleted earlier due to non-encyclopedic placement in infobox and then inappropriate placement in list. Used merely as unwarranted decoration and not informative use in article. --NYScholar (talk) 10:05, 21 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Biography of living person edit

  • See the related links to Wikipedia policies and guidelines pertaining to biographies of living persons. No blogs or self-published online posts by people other than the subject herself are permissible for usage in this article either as sources or as external links: see WP:CITE, WP:BLP#Sources, and WP:EL.
  • The blogs created by the subject herself are permissible in the section of external links; self-published blogs and self-published comments by others are not.
  • Message board posts and website posts by unknown and non-authoritative people are not considered reliable and verifiable sources of information in Wikipedia articles and, if they contain potentially controversial or derogatory information or statements about a living person, they are not permissible in Wikipedia and may be deleted with no further explanation. --NYScholar (talk) 06:53, 22 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
  • Duplicates for items already listed as sources and references in previous sections should not be repeated in EL sec. (See WP:CITE and WP:EL for editing guidelines.) Any such gratuitous duplicates will be removed. --NYScholar (talk) 05:46, 19 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
  • [The item that I removed today from the EL sec. is already accessible via the hyperlink to the subject's name in each of the three bloggingheads.tv entries already separately listed in "Videos and webcasts" subsection; it does not need to be added to the EL section. It is not necessary or helpful. This is not an advertisement for bloggingheads.tv. --NYScholar (talk) 05:54, 19 December 2008 (UTC)]Reply

Missing 2 decades edit

What did Merritt do from 1974 to 1995? Did she establish her own firm right away or, more likely, work as an associate in other firms or government agencies for a time? When did she begin practicing on her own? -- Ssilvers (talk) 21:26, 16 September 2009 (UTC) [restored date stamp inadvertantly deleted when formatting reply below. -- 66.66.27.196 (talk) 18:20, 6 October 2012 (UTC)]Reply

See the long-cited DU Magazine/DU Today article, by Carrie Printz ("Merritt's Blog Covers Crime and Justice", originally published online in August 30, 2006 (link updated): "After graduating from DU [1973], Merritt worked briefly for a small firm before starting her own practice in Denver [1974], where she primarily handles federal drug cases, white-collar crime and forfeitures."
