The source citation for the claim that "Jeronimo" is the Spanish/Portuguese version of "Jerome" does not support this claim. The source states that "Jeronimo" is derived from the "latin" (sic) form of the Greek "Hieronymos"; the name "Jerome" is not listed among the other derivations given.
