Suicide

edit

The reasons behind Bjørneboes' suicide are disputed, I don't think the article currently reflects this. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.203.58.96 (talk) 01:40, 26 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Conviction information

edit

I would like to see more information about his conviction, if anyone has it. For instance, in what country, province, court, etc. Was there an opportunity to appeal? Did he? Under which law(s) was he prosecuted? Can anyone get a copy of those laws? If he, in fact, was convicted, what was his sentence? If anyone can shed some light on some of these questions, I believe it would make this article much more interesting. Thanks! Zephlon 20:19, 22 Mar 2005 (UTC)

    • I'll expand on this later. :) RMonkey 20:06, 28 August 2005 (UTC)Reply
      • Bjørneboe was convicted first by the municipality court of Oslo 29. of june 1967 and then the final conviction after appeals was by the norwegian supreme court 15. december 1967. The conviction was under the norwegian penal code of 1902 "Almindelig Borgelig Straffelov" § 211 (as of 1967) which penalized "pornographic writings". This section of the penal code has since been re-written (in 2000)and § 211 is no longer a part of the nowegian penal code. Bjørneboe was fined 1.000 NOK and his publisher was fined 10.000 NOK. The sentence draws mainly on the conviction of the norwegian publisher of Henry Millers book Sexus in 1959 and distinguishes the case from the aquittal of Agnar Mykle from a similar charge in 1958. The conviction can be found in "Rettstidende" - the yearbook of the norwegian supreme court 1967 page 1502. dvaskebamse 20:13, 21 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
