Speedy deletion
editWhile I agree that this page should be deleted, it does not meet any of the established criteria. Therefore, I've replaced the "db" template with a "prod" template; we can proceed to AfD if anyone objects. Also, I recommend transwiki-ing this to the Wikibooks cookbook before deleting it. –Sommers (Talk) 01:26, 16 February 2006 (UTC)
- The prod template has been removed, and I agree that the page is now encyclopedic enough to stay. Good work, Kissedsmiley. –Sommers (Talk) 17:29, 16 February 2006 (UTC)
- I have never heard of congealed salad. Jello salad article should stay, and if there is merger to be done it should eliminate the congealed salad article. Will somone please take off the merge if you agree with me? MPS 18:48, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
I have never heard of "congealed" salad either. But after reading the congealed salad article, I realized that it was describing "jelly" salad. It's my feeling that both the "congealed salad" and "jello salad" articles should be merged into the broader salad article AND that the name of this particular salad should be changed to "jelly salad" rather than the commercial name "jello". Perhaps a note could be made that some people call it "jello salad". EJ Minston 12:29, 9 July 2006 (UTC)
I agree that "jello salad" and "congealed salad" should be merged. The title of the new page should be "gelatin salad" or "jellied salad". Or better still, merge both "jello salad" and "congealed salad" into "salad." "Jell-o" is a brand name of flavoured gelatin crystals and "jelly" is the English language term. I have never heard of a "congealed salad" but I see this term does exist on "google." My cook books refer to "gelatin salad" CAM 06:18, 27 December 2006 (UTC)
I STRONGLY believe that the articles should NOT be merged but the merge suggestion box SHOULD remain because reading the sentence "It has been suggested that this article or section be merged with congealed salad" stopped me from killing myself. Who knows how many other lives it might save. That's funny! 69.182.20.155 04:48, 27 August 2006 (UTC)
American Version of European dish
editJello Salad and the mentioned congealed salad are American versions of either old world "set-cream" desserts from France, or desserts like bavarians or panna cotta from Italy. The key ingredient in each is not what is being set, but the setting method which is the used of gelatin (not Jello, the gelatin which makes it Jello). Although there was never a merge done, which I do not believe there should be, they should all fall under a larger article called Gelatin Desserts perhaps, but still with their individual well written, detailed articles.
