Theokratic Organisation of Jehovah's Witnesses
I've added information about the "Theokratic Organisation of Jehovah's Witnesses" in the former USSR. Someone has added a "citation needed", though all information was taken from the russian-language site of this organisation and there is a reference to this site. Eurocentrism in the study of Watchtower & descended groups
On this and other similar pages the enormous impact of Russell's Movement in the former British Colonial world system is completely overlooked/ignored.A one time,but important associate(follower/representative)of C.T. Russell,Joseph Booth,was very instrumental as a watchtower missionary in the early 20th century,in establishing both the Watchtower Bible students Movement as such & influencing the leaders of independent,but watchtower descendant, African bible student movements in countries now known as Malawi,South Africa,Zambia & Zimbabwe.Both he and an African leader,Elliott Kenan Kamwana were Watchtower leaders in early 20th century southern Africa.Long after Booth had left the Society,Kamwana as a Watchtower leader was instrumental in organizing,some sources report,over 10,000 adherents into his version of Russell's Teachings.These followers even organized in such non british colonial African areas now Known as Mozambique and Congo.The movement in Congo was/is known as Kitawala,whitch means 'Watchtower'in an indigenous ,local language.While these groups,whitch still exist today(almost 100 yrs later!)represent a creative African version/interpretation of 'Russellism' proper-as important in my view, or even more so,given further regional developments,as the Bible Fellowship Union & The Forest Gate Church,both 'Russellite'bodies in England,at the time or the still existing,international,Russell descendant Philanthropic Assembly, headquartered in Switzerland.There exist ,today and still growing a specifically 'Jehovah's Witness'splinter group never mentioned,to my knowledge in these type of forums or Articles,the God's Kingdom Society(GKS),international,Headquartered in Warri,Nigeria.Founded by Former African Watchtower leader & Jehovah's Witness pioneer activist,Gideon Urhobo,in 1934.His polemical fights with Jehovah's Witness Leader J.F.Rutherford were as vitriolic & contentious as any between Rutherford and any of his other European descendant Russellite leaders/competitors/contemparies.In sum Former Russellite/Rutherfordite Watchtower African religious leaders such as Elliott Kamwana and Gideon Urhobo and the movements they founded and lead ,such as the Watctower,Kitawala & the God' Kingdom Society need to be included in any comprehensive study of the Bible Student Movement.Lest the true name of Articles like this be more accurately named'The Jehovah's Witnesses & their White splinter groups!---AdowablkAdowablk (talk) 01:30, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
