Talk:Jehnny Beth

Latest comment: 6 years ago by QEDK in topic Requested move 1 January 2018

Shouldn't this be the redirect and Jehnny Beth the main? edit

She apparently uses this name in the film industry, but there's tons and tons of coverage as JB, both for her work with Savages as well as solo.

Camille BerthomierJehnny Beth – Per WP:COMMONNAME - Jehnny Beth is clearly the most recognised name, and supported by references. Lazz_R 15:13, 1 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

  • Support per nomination. Subject is known to the public via her stage name, Jehnny Beth, not via her birth name. —Roman Spinner (talk)(contribs) 19:38, 1 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
  • Support per nom. No idea why this wasn't named Jehnny Beth to begin with. Sock (tock talk) 13:24, 3 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
Although all 23 of the inline cites appended to the article (some of which date back to 2010) refer to subject as Jehn or Jehnny Beth, not as Camille, the uncertainty comes from the fact that her native French Wikipedia (as well as Thai Wikipedia), the only other Wikipedias to carry her article, still use "Camille Berthomier" as the main title header, as does her IMDb entry. Since the sources for articles delineating a number of personalities, from outside the English-speaking world, are their native Wikipedias, the uncertainty is understandable (the French Wikipedia entry was created in 2005, while the English Wikipedia entry was started only last July). —Roman Spinner (talk)(contribs) 18:25, 3 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
  • Don't support Good afternoon good people of the Wikipedia. "Jehnny Beth" is only one of the many personas adopted by the renowned artist Camille Berthomier when travelling around our fair country of France, North to South, West to East. In Languedoc, she is known as "Camomille de Berthomus". She goes in Dauphiné by the name of "kwyjibeth" (NO CAPS). In Roussillon, she will only answer to you if you call her "JoJo Lady Bee". And many more! Most of her fruitful actress and feet-modeling career is going on with the name "Camille Berthomier". Jehnny Beth is only a small part in a bigger artistic project. For these reasons, I deem that request superfluous and an insult to the many talents of Camille Berthomier (= total artist). So says I! 85.115.60.202 (talk) 14:31, 4 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
As I have stated before, Jehnny Beth is clearly the most recognised name. Berthomier may have performed and recorded as a number of different names, but if Jehnny Beth is the most famous and universally recognised one, that qualifies for the title. This same argument goes for Fatboy Slim, you may have heard of him. He recorded and performed in bands under his legal name, Norman Cook, and he has produced and gained attention under several aliases, and the article was previously named Norman Cook. However, as Fatboy Slim is, by far, the most recognised of his aliases, that was redeemed the title. That was an example for WP:COMMONNAME, and how a number of personas does not justify this. A google search comparison can be used to see which is the most searched name, (Beth), and repeating myself yet again, almost all of the articles references refer to "Jehnny Beth".
