Is it not enough simply to reference the text that one has reproduced? A lot of the things that I copied as wrote simply didn't need to be written any other way.

IMPORTANCE

"This article lacks information on the importance of the subject matter. If you are familiar with it, please expand the article, or discuss its significance on the talk page."

"Her..."Destiny" hybrid...became the first southern hemisphere-bred iris to receive the British Iris Society’s bronze medal."

"Three of Jean’s irises received awards of merit from the Royal Horticultural Society between 1936 and 1939"

"When "Pinnacle", an outstanding white and yellow amoena, was introduced in 1949 Stevens gained international recognition, and the iris became one of the most popular in the world. The American Iris Society (1951) and the Royal Horticultural Society (1959) both granted Stevens an award of merit for its creation."

"Stevens was awarded The British Iris Society's prestigious Foster Memorial Plaque in 1953, and received the American Iris Society’s hybridisers’ medal in 1955. Between 1949 and 1961 her cultivars achieved two American awards of merit and six honourable mentions."

"Early in 1967 Stevens was elected an associate of honour of the Royal New Zealand Institute of Horticulture. In the same year her pink amoena "Sunset Snows" took third place at an international iris competition in Florence and won cups for the best early variety and for the most original colour, the first time a prize in the competition had gone to the southern hemisphere and the first time one cultivar had collected three prizes."

Depends how much u care about irises. Do a google image search on iris, they're pretty nice looking things. She's important enough to be in Dictionary NZ Biography.

How does an article qualify as important enough to drop its "lacks information on importance" status?

edit

I note this article has beeen labelled "lacks information on importance". What would it take for this label to be removed?

For example, I note there is an entry for the creator of the "slinky" (Richard James), a toy which is pretty much obselete these days and wouldn't be known by those who haven't seen Ace Ventura Nature Calls. Now the "Pinnacle" Iris, the creation of Stevens, was the most popular type of iris in the world for its time, and I dare say more people have cared for Irises throughout history than have cared for slinkys.

Another good example, there is an entry for 4 Non-Blondes who were pretty much a one-hit wonder with "What's Up". I wouldn't be suprised if there were more people tending to "Pinnacle" irises than listening to an outdated song from the 90s in 2006.

Fair point?

So can I just delete the "importance" tag myself?
