Hasty proposed speedy

edit

Seeming like a rather automatic newpage patrol motion, please actually look at provided sources before slapping up a "makes no assertion of notability" tag. MURGH disc. 15:55, 10 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

I wasn't questioning the sourcing; but the cites didn't add up to notability per WP:BIO, IMAO; just another obscure businessperson. --Orange Mike | Talk 16:12, 10 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
Just another businessperson you may say, but not obscure, and one that is the subject of published secondary source material. MURGH disc. 16:16, 10 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

I've removed the speedy tag. What the tagger probably didn't notice is that FC Gironds is not a French company but a major French football team. This is like proposing the deletion of Alex Ferguson. DJ Clayworth (talk) 16:42, 10 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Well, that would be a bit more wild ;^) but yes, this is a person who is criticised frequently in the press. MURGH disc. 16:50, 10 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
I understand that (for reasons incomprehensible to me) football players are deemed notable, no matter how brief their careers; but you feel that all the club owners/executives are likewise notable, even when the club is owned by a television company? This is alien to my concepts of "notable," I will confess. (And I had to click the link to find out who this Ferguson sod was.) --Orange Mike | Talk 16:58, 10 December 2007 (UTC) (not a jock)Reply
It's certainly no crime not to be a jock. While I should think footballers with brief mediocre careers don't meet WP:NOTE, club presidents/owners are the focus of so much media attention (from some of Europe's most childish working journalists), certainly within their own cities, a closer example than Ferguson might be Joan Laporta. While Triaud isn't this controversial, he also happens to run two notable wineries. MURGH disc. 17:32, 10 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
