Etymology edit

If Jaya means "victory", what does "pura" mean? --Menchi 03:27, 14 May 2005 (UTC)Reply

===>As I understand it It's like "burg" or "ville" - a generic city designation. Justin (koavf) 06:17, Jun 4, 2005 (UTC)

________________________________

"Pura" does mean "City" in Hindu civilization, up to the Champa kingdom with the formrer capital city of "Indirapura", as the present Singapore. In Chinese civilization, it's "King" or "Jing" for "city", as in Peking (city of the north), Nanking (city of the south and Chunking (city of the middle). As time goes by, the orthograph may change.

Include a map? edit

The map at Image:New guinea named.PNG shows Jayapura as a dot on the Northern coast. Maybe it belongs in the article. Lou Sander 03:54, 16 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Remove the Hollandia redirection edit

Hollandia is now a commercially produced beer which is more relevant than Juju's name from 1962. Kthxbibi.

Climate Table edit

The author seems to have confused daily sunshine hours with average day length. This comfiguration with extreme rainfall and continuous sunshine is obviously incorrect. Sunshime hours should be removed. Vieaut (talk) 23:42, 14 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
