Alumni page is abused

• Alumnus page is supposed to have distinguished alumnus but some how ended up having too many unimportant names. There ware 1000s of people who are passed out of JNVs. Original researches

I removed the 'original research' tag from the page as the section does not seem to be "original research", rather it is a rather innocuous repetition of primary source. As "objectives" I would say it stands. I have no comment to make on how successful the school is on reaching those.

Proposed merger of List of Navodaya Vidyalayas into this article

• Hello everyone. List of Navodaya Vidyalayas was created which is an indiscriminate collection of 600+ names of schools and with less than 20 of them having blue links (page of their own). I really dont see a reason why separate page should exist when the existing information can be accommodated in the main article (this). I proposed this merger back in Oct 2015 and till date no one has raised any objection. I am still giving this another chance and would wait for a few days before I perform a bold move to merge the page in few days. Arun Kumar SINGH (Talk) 12:09, 28 May 2016 (UTC)

• Hello Arun Kumar SINGH (Talk) . Regarding merged List of Navodaya Vidyalayas, I was actually surprised to find a complete or near complete list of JNVs neatly sorted by states and U.T.s of India. I provided links to a no. of JNV articles. When I found time to continue with linking, the list was gone. I am intrigued about the way it is merged or rather how the merged list is developing. e.g. Bihar state is listing JNVs from all over India. I have a suggestion that in merged article, List of JNVs may be directed to 'Category:Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas' if appropriate and within norms of Wikipedia. Thanks. This encouraged me, can you please paste the List of Navodaya Vidyalayas in this page in whatever modified way possible or can you please send me the list at my email so that I can present that here in better way. Also I am planning to do an 'almost' overhaul of this page so please help me out if I get stuck somewhere by carrying on this overhaul as per latest information available. Will you help me? Proposed merge with Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test

Nature of JNVs

Top line says that "Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) are a system of alternate schools for gifted students in India".

• Firstly I can't find any reference for this.
• Secondly Alternative school are said to follow non traditional methods of pedagogy and this is not true for JNVs as they follow same curricula and same extra-curricular activities as any other school.
• Thirdly though JNVs are for intelligent students but can they be called gifted according to psychological definition i.e. they don't seem to conclusively fall in top 2% although pass percentage is about 2% since not everybody is giving JNVST.

Deletion of JNV School articles

After a few months of break when I returned to Wikipedia, I have noticed that numerous articles on JNV schools have been redirected to List of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas. Their contents have been deleted and pages redirected. Has there been some policy decision to completely remove the JNV school articles?. -- Jazze7 (talk) 07:51, 8 September 2020 (UTC)

Yes, I too saw the content deleted and the articles redirected to List of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas for no reason. They need to be reverted, every article is notable enough and helpful to Wikipedia. In past, a number of such articles have been redirected to List of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas per AfD discussions. Clarifying that individually they do not meet WP:NSCHOOL and WP:GNG guidelines. I myself being a former student of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Anantnag tried a year ago to write about it, but it was rejected. Anyways, if you guys can improve an article about specific JNV, and remove the direct then, it would be great. In the current condition, and per sources available - none satisfies either WP:GNG or WP:NSCHOOL. @ The Aafī (^talk) - Relax young man and take care about your health. Get well soon. From overall discussion at Afd one thing is clear that some kind of solution has to be found. I learned about JNVs only about six years back by chance and I was pleasantly surprised as I learned more and more about these schools over the years. I hope and pray that these schools continue to operate as they were envisaged. In the meantime kindly accept suggestions made here Wikipedia:Wikibreak.
