Changes

edit

I have made some changes providing some more context. Given that Alain Badiou is clearly notable by Wikipedia's standards, both as a French philosopher and someone whose work has appeared in English translation, should it not follow that Barker is also notable for having written the first full-length book on Badiou in any language [http://www.amazon.com/Alain-Badiou-Critical-Introduction-European/dp/0745318002] and aided the reception of Badiou's work in English, also as a translator[http://www.amazon.com/Metapolitics-Alain-Badiou/dp/184467567X/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1214731805&sr=1-1]? In fact given that Peter Hallward and Ray Brassier have both done much the same thing, I can't really see why Barker shouldn't warrant his entry.Rachel0898 (talk) 09:33, 29 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

  • I fear I may have accidentally removed the original tag indicating the criteria for deletion, and now can't remember what it was. Sorry! I have reflagged the page under "notability", but again would simply ask that the speedy deletion is revised in light of the changes to address content and context I previously made. I have made substantial changes to this article in order to address the problems of notability and impartiality. Although I believe it now meets all outstanding criteria, I intend to further improve it over the next day or so and obviously invite others to help. If anyone has any feedback on what I've done so far then I'd be grateful to receive it Rachel0898 (talk) 10:01, 30 June 2008

      • I have tried to address all outstanding criteria as follows:

1. Notability: added several third party references and sources and removed the tag. Presumably now ok.

2. Potential conflict of interest. I have merged Organisation Non-Philosophique Internationale and removed the reference previously at Jason Barker. Also edited Alain Badiou and added more complete and representative samples of secondary literature. If there are other outstanding issues here then I'd be grateful for feedback. Disambiguation tag

I removed the tag relating to Jason Owen, since it seemed quite excessive to mention someone in relation to Jason Barker 1. who isn't actually named "Jason Barker" and 2. is not notable by Wikipedia's own standards. I can understand the desire among some Wikipedia editors to want to cast the net over as much of news and popular culture as possible, but I would say that this an example of that desire becoming obsessive.Rachel0898 (talk) 09:00, 15 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
