Is this the Jarvis, Ontario where pilots underwent bombing training during World War II? A scene in the Hollywood movie "Captains of the Clouds" has a brief scene of that training, done over a lake (Lake Erie?), with the caption "Jarvis, Ontario." If so, some mention might be made in the article.
One wonders, also, after whom the town was named. Would it be one of the (infamous) William Jarvis family of Toronto. See http://schools.tdsb.on.ca/jarvisci/history/hcontent.htm.

Is it possible it was named after Jarvis Island? Norfolk isn't too far from Jarvis, and although Norfolk Island isn't as close to Jarvis Island as their twin Ontarian towns, the positioning is similar. — Preceding unsigned comment added by AlexLucCarrier (talk • contribs) 09:16, 27 December 2011 (UTC)

I once saw a photo of a Canadian National Railway station named Jarvis. It probably was in Jarvis, Ontario. It would be interesting to know if freight trains still serve Jarvis, and when passenger trains stopped serving the community.
