Organizations edit

At least 2 Japanese orgs (service and historical) are listed at Chicago Cultural Alliance, so this article would benefit from something about them. -- Alanscottwalker (talk) 11:45, 22 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for bringing them up! I'm getting them listed! WhisperToMe (talk) 16:33, 22 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Mid-America Japanese Club edit

http://web.archive.org/web/20050308044015/http://www.japaneseclub.org/ The Mid-America Japanese Club was based in Mount Prospect, Illinois but now it is based in Arlington Heights. The name in English later changed to the Chicago Japanese Club.

– We're using different titles for articles with similar scopes. Striving for consistency here. I think the "Japanese-American culture in X" format is most universal and allows articles to cover more than just history. It also follows our category structure Category:Japanese-American culture. --Another Believer (Talk) 02:44, 11 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

  • Oppose. Using "culture" in the title limits the scope of these articles far too much. Much or most of the content in most of the articles is history. If an expansion of the footprint is desired, moving e.g. History of the Japanese in Seattle to Japanese in Seattle might be in order. —  AjaxSmack  05:59, 11 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose This is not the scope of these articles. Walrasiad (talk) 14:35, 12 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Walrasiad Do you have a preferred title, so we can make these consistent? ---Another Believer (Talk) 16:14, 12 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose. The content of articles such as History of the Japanese in Seattle is clearly history focused. There may be justification to create a separate article that is dedicated to culture, but I feel that the history content should remain in its own article.—Myasuda (talk) 16:21, 12 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Myasuda Do you think these articles should have similar titles, and if so, are you advocating for "History of the Japanese in XXX" format for all? ---Another Believer (Talk) 16:19, 13 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
The articles each have different scope and coverage, so I won't make any recommendations about a uniform naming convention for all of them. But for some articles such as the Seattle one, I don't think removing history from the article title is the best option.—Myasuda (talk) 02:55, 14 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
