I clarified the section on food, specifically the description of ozoni. The previous description of it made it seem that ozoni is traditionally a miso based soup, however, I believe it depends on the region. For example, most of my friends and relatives that live in the Eastern part of Japan have a clear broth based soup, and the mochi is cut as a square/rectangle. Many of my friends from the Western part of Japan have their ozoni as a miso based soup and the mochi is shaped round. I think that the only consistency in ingredient is that it is a soup with mochi in it, though feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. So when is it?

The first paragraph is very confusing about whether New Years, as discussed in the article, is celebrated on the day of the Chinese New Year or the Gregorian one. Please specify in the first few sentences. --LakeHMM 06:54, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

New year in Ryukyus

There are plenty of references online regarding the Little/Lesser New Year festival in Japan, that it occurs around January 15th, that it is a national festival, etc. Encyclopedia of Shinto and Ecumenical Buddhism, Daoism, & Confucianism for instance. Please at least do some Google research before making requests. The wiki article seems to have been "lifted" from here where there is more info. LookingGlass (talk) 13:07, 14 February 2013 (UTC)

Symphony No. 9 (Beethoven)

As far as I know (as a Japanese living in Japan) the Ninth is never performed in the new year. The article says "New Years season" and if you include the end of the year as "New Years season" it is correct, but this is not a new years event or celebration. You can see the Japanese wiki article on the Ninth and other Japanese sources will say 年末 (end of the year) not 年始 (new year). --Atlasia (talk) 03:21, 18 February 2015 (UTC)

Bells section mentions food
