Errors on the list

Patagonian Rosewood has a rating of 3840, not 3,000,000. Don't know who changed that, but it's absurd, and I don't see an Edit button for that section. 00:13, 27 February 2012

I noticed Teak is mentioned twice on the list. Once with 1000 janka and once with 1150 janka. Both numbers are sourced (the two top sources each state a different number for teak) but only one can be correct. Can anyone clarify?--Nwinther (talk) 09:13, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

Xanthostemon verdugonianus Philippines Hardest Wood is not in the list.

Osage Orange is in error, it's footnote (7) points to Red Maple and the value cited (2040) matches neither wood. Windsor (talk) 21:31, 27 October 2020 (UTC)

What's on the List

The table says it covers flooring woods. Is that really all, or should the table's title be changed? I, for one, have never seen or heard of a balsa floor. On the other hand, if it really is limited (or mostly limited) to woods used in floors, why? Wouldn't it be more useful to list the hardness for all the woods that (as long as there's a source?) Not that there aren't a lot already. And then the name would be changed as I already said.Joe Avins (talk) 14:57, 12 July 2012 (UTC)

Another Error

At 1390 Janka Hardness you will find a hotlink for "Coffee Bean". First off, coffee beans are not wood. I think that's an obvious mistake, but what should be there instead is the Kentucky Coffeetree. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kentucky_coffeetree The coffeetree has a Janka hardness of 1390 and should be in the place of the bean.

Hardness vs density?

I am no physicist and am a math-o-phobe to boot, but I imagine that there is a relationship between the density of wood and its hardness. I can point to some examples that seem to bear this out, but am no wood authority (ebony - hard and dense; eastern white pine - soft and not very dense). Am I correct? Where did Gabriel Janka settle?

The article describes Gabriel Janka as an "Austrian-born emigrant", it does not tell us where Janka emigrated to. I hope some editor is able to clarify this and insert the appropriate information. Pete unseth (talk) 18:56, 3 February 2021 (UTC)
